SmugMug Statistics are Back!

We started tracking hits again about an hour ago, and we've now started displaying those new hits. Everything's looking good - the new stats tracker is screaming along, very fast.

I'd view this as being in a 'TEST' phase right now while we make doubly-sure that all the kinks are worked out, so please post if you see any problems or issues.

Even if we have to turn them off temporarily to fix some unknown problem, we shouldn't lose the stats we've already started gathering. I don't expect to have to shut them off again, but you never know.

    We all cheered here at Smugmug headquarters when they were turned back on. As Mike Lane would put it, the Great Smugmug Stats Outage of 2006 is finally over!

    I was the first to view my gallery and see my stat.

    The top of the page sayes IMPOTRANT Stats Turned Off. headscratch.gifne_nau.gif

    Actually it says now, "IMPORTANT: SmugMug statistics tracking was off for the first half of June, 2006. We're sorry about that, and don't expect it to happen again. More info can be found on our message forum."

    I happened to be on my control panel a little bit ago and saw that the stats line said "1 photo viewed" so I figured stats were back. When I went into the stats page, none of the charts were up but one of the galleries said "1 hit". It also had the "no views for this gallery" message (and as I said, no chart).

    Now (an hour later) I have views in several galleries and they have charts associated with them, but there are a few galleries that exhibit the "1 hit but no chart" behavior. When I viewed one of these galleries then went back to the stats page, everything had updated properly. But this time OTHER galleries had the "1 hit but no chart" thing going on.

    Now, I don't care about any of this one tiny bit. But I thought I'd mention it in case it's a symptom of something else, since you just went live with a change and all... I'm sure it's nothing.

    Thanks for bringing the stats back. thumb.gif However, individual Album header still says "IMPORTANT: SmugMug statistics tracking is currently off.     Main stats page has the line stating that stats are back but the "inner" categories still have the stats down message.

    It is great to see the stats flying in.

    Abnormal items that I think could be related...
    1. Categories without # galleries, #photos or last updated timestamp.
    2. Subcategories without # galleries, # photos or last updated timestamp.
    The categories and subcategories are sorting forward with most recent on top as desired, but no outer envelope stats displayed.

    I also notice there's a pixel placeholder on the screen now as the site selects a photo thumbnail to highlight. Interesting and not a problem, just observation.

    That sounds like you have 'Clean' turned in for one or more galleries in said Category and/or SubCategory.
