Hello folks. It's been a while since I've posted some osprey shots. As some may know...I've been following a few pairs of osprey for the last few months. The birth and growth of the 3 juveniles has been quite an experience to witness first hand. These amazing birds have provided me with many memorable photo ops. It's been almost a month since I last shot the osprey.

The photo ops have about come to a screatching hault. The last couple times I went out...I chased osprey in the boat for hours and only ended up with a few sightings. The productivity had diminished so much...it wasn't worth the hours of trolling afte them. The young are not around the nest much anymore as are the parents. I've sat at an empty nest too often of late...so I figure this well is about dry for this year. Can't wait until next "season".

Here are some more shots from the days of the osprey nest shooting. Hope you enjoy and thanks for putting up with the inferior post work.

Thanks for looking.
Mike McCarthy

Spectacular series! usually photos go in order from good to ok, this series goes from stunning to spectacular! All the shots are amazing, but the second to the last one is really something! It looks like he found a bigger fish than the one he's got and he's coming straight for it! What'd you do, strap a trout to that lens?rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif

Thank you for the kind words Ian. I didn't have a trout on my lens....just a goofy hat on my head. :D The osprey would like to buzz me from time to time. It wasn't what I'd call an aggressive approach..but more of "Hey Mr. photog man...I knwo you are here taking our pictures...so get a good look." rolleyes1.gif
