Where Else Do You Hang on the Web? And Why?

Kinda curious where you spend your internet time, and whether you visit many other photography sites.

Dgrin is one of two places where I spend most of my browsing time. The other is Baldy's other site, www.advrider.com.

Both are forums, so I can interact with folks, and clearly that's their main appeal. That, and the fact that they're devoted to two of my hobbies, photography and motorcycles. Tho truth to tell, I spend vastly more time ponitificating about current events than I do motorcycles over on the other side.

The only other photography site I visit much is www.fredmiranda.com, and mostly I spend time in their Buy/Sell forum. Everytime I visit www.luminous-landscape.com I learn something new, but I only go there a couple of times a month. His product reviews are always interesting. I spend surprisingly little time at www.dpreview.com, a place from which we have so many refugees. I simply can't stand their forum software, not at all user friendly. And I don't really need their gear reviews.

www.news.yahoo.com gets a lot of my time, as does Google news. My local newspaper, the www.AJC.com, gets an almost daily look-see, usually the sports page. I go to www.weather.com and www.weathertap. com for weather and radar info. In the last week or so I've checked out www.mlb.com for baseball info, but the Tour De France site was hopeless, and www.olntv.com wasn't much better. ESPN is slow and darned hard to navigate.

Other than that, I follow links around. Lately, Youtube and Google video seem to be hot, lots of entertainment there.

I really don't care for blogs. And huge blocks of text aren't much fun to read on a computer screen, so I usually avoid them. But when I'm researching for the internet argument du jour on ADV, I'll wade thru some pretty dense stuff (and learn a lot in the process.) I know Wikipedia is flawed, by doggone it, it sure is user friendly.

So.... how about you? What other photo sites do you visit and why? Where else do you have on the web?
Sid.

I try to support my friends at TWC and visit weather.com for all the cool
stuff they have there. Then, I carry on debate (at least what passes for
that) over on www.advrider.com. There are a ton of really great photos
in the ride reports--not to mention the rides are ones I'll never get to but
love reading. And then there's jo mamma...ahhh Britney--thanks waxy!

Photo sites. Hmmm...lemme see. I've got dgrin (of course), fm and
    www.photoworkshop.com (canon courses).

    Thanks for axing waxy!

Mostly I'm over on http://del.icio.us and its various pages. I generally start off with http://del.icio.us/popular and then go to /popular/css, /popular/osx, etc. I also frequent some blogs. My main two are http://atrios.blogspot.com/ and http://tbogg.blogspot.com/. I occassionally go to http://www.tomthedancingbug.com/ for a laugh. Other than that CNN and my site.

This will be cool to see where everyone goes!

My daily lookies are dgrin of coarse, the stats for my website and for my smugmug website, and somehow I'm still hooked on MySpace (my profile).ne_nau.gif

A few times a week I'll check out weather.com and I do all of my finances/bills online at Wells Fargo. But, I haven't been too happy with weather.com and I'm looking for an alternative. Lately I've been going to the national weather service web site but it's not very user friendly.

For photography - I'll pop into the Canon Learning Center occasionally, and when I'm getting ready to buy equipment I'll usually check out the-digital-picture.com which has some great reviews and tutorials. I'll do all my searching, pricing, and buying through adorama.com. I send them lots of money, and they send me really cool stuff - it's been a great relationship!:D

I'm a wx geek too :-) As a gamer I hang out with geezergamers.com and check xbox.com regularly, and there's a bunch of sites in my reader that get checked at least daily. I'm just digging into del.icio.us so I'll be following Mike over there to see what's what, and I try to remember to stop by digg at least once every few days.

My home page is my customized Google page. It has various news, weather, word-of-the-day, etc links. I hit Audiworld daily - typically the B5 A4, Off Topic and Photography forums. My brother has some college buddies who started a forum that I read daily. They're a bit less polite (pretty crass and vulgar, really) and are damn funny. I read Fm occasionally, as well as the WERA motorcycle racing forums. Slickdeals gets a visit daily, and dpreview once or twice a week. As mentioned previously, the forum software over there is fairly annoying, as are many of the posters. I've lost a lot of interest in that place. B&H and Newegg get most of my web purchases, along with Amazon.

Okay, you guys are liking delicious, that's cool thumb.gif

    Here is my page: http://del.icio.us/lanemik
    Here is Adobe's page: http://del.icio.us/adobe

You can go to either all the tag's page or the most popular sites with that tag. So if you go to http://del.icio.us/tag/css you'll get a whole bunch of sites that are tagged with "css". They may not be all that popular, but the benefit is that they may be very new which can be good. If you want only the sites that have been tagged with "css" the most, then go to http://del.icio.us/popular/css. The sites on the popular pages are always pretty good.

What is also neat is that Smugmug's keywords work just like delicious tags. thumb.gif

I spend most of my time here on Dgrin, on my Smugmug site and viewing other people's photography. I view the news daily on my Yahoo homepage, and pay my bills online (bleahhhhh!).

For shopping....B&H, of course, Amazon.com and Overstock.com, oh and let's not forget Ebay!

I do subscribe to Shutterbug online which I enjoy. I like the way the magazine is layed out on-line...it's very user friendly and easy on the eyes......and free! I can read an article each day and come back later for another....and I never misplace my magazine! It has a page called website profiles I like to view each month....

Then there is this site about the India Car scene, to be more presise its the biggest India Car forum. I am a moderator there -> http://www.team-bhp.com.

Then among the news sites are http://digg.com and http://slashdot.org.

In India, the primary language common among netizens are english. Native languages of people from different parts of the country are different, but English is one language which binds us all (As opposed to the National Language, Hindi).

Morover many people on the internet cant read or write Hindi(Its not spoken in their part of the country) but if you are literate enough to be on the internet, there is an almost 100% chance you will be able to read and write english

Actually, you know what, in most commonwealth nations(Nations which were once under the british empire) and in many non-commonwealth non english speaking nations, the language of choice on the internet is english. Most countries which have migrated from english are either the far east ones, or the ones like Spain/Germany etc., where the language is different but the script is english like.
