Hi y'all,

I went back to the Viera Wetlands the other day (and I drove much more carefully).

I was just getting out of my car to set up when this shadow appeared on the ground. I said "I know that shadow". I grabbed my D2X which had the 500mm and 1.4 TC attached. I didn't have time to get the tripod set-up so these were shot handheld.

D2X + 500mm handheld + Bifs? Be careful that you don't immobilize yourself with backpain or a tennis-elbow.

    Great shots Harry.

    Thanks for sharing.

Well it would have been better if that dang eagle could have waited for me to set-up the tripod. None of these shots are the sharpest and I had to take around 40-50 shots to get 5 semi-decent ones. But its a lot better than no eagle shots. :D

Glad the eagle(s) are back. You becareful liftin that lens like that. You're no spring chicken anymore. Do you know if the birds are back at the secret place ? I might have to give big brother Jimmy a call and visit. Not bad for hand held 500mm. If you had a Canon you could have cranked that ISO to 1600 and used a super high shutter speed. :D

Thanks Swartzy. In ron Reznick's DVDs he tells you to know your limitations and to know how many shots you need to take under certain comditions in order to get one good shot. I figured I had a 1 in 8 chance here so I took around 40 shots to get this handful of decent shots.
