Excellent shots, Gus! It occurs to me that there are some very good reasons for using a $70 lens at a concert besides that it does a darn good job!!! thumb.gif

This is the pick 'o the bunch for me - a first class shot of an iconic performer. thumb.gif Very effective in B&W, but would you share the original colour version?

I was wondering Gus wether you were going to make us watch 450 pics...
I am my own best culler, I toss out a lot of what I shoot.
Great shots, they all are of outstanding quality. I would not know which one to pick first. You are made for gig photography!

The very reason i asked to go & shoot the concert was because i heard that this man was going to be there...Peter Garrett (midnight oil) Im a huge oils fan..have been for over 25 years & i finally got to meet him..he is 6'7 & has a presence that looks into your sole when he speaks to you.

I though.."i wonder if i could get to go to the concert & get some high contrast B&W full head shots of him" serious , thats the only reason i asked to go.

Mid speach without a warning or reference to anything ... he held up his hand...its a very trademark symbol of his recognition of the lands traditional owners..the aboriginals. Luckiest shot i have ever scored i recon.
One of the best concerts I've ever been to... Midnight Oil in the Late 80s at fairly small venue. Great music and incredible energy.

    Terrific pics, Gus!

Sorry i know its long but i got about 450 shots & you should never ask a photographer to cull their favorite shots.

    Tks mate..here you go.
Thanks for showing us this, Gus. I'm not normally a B&W fan but the monochrome treatment has suited this subject matter and lighting very well. However the colour version is extremely good too, even before your final PP touches.

Great work. As one who has had the occasional crack at live music shots, I'm most impressed. thumb.gif

Thanks for your comments mate. Ive picked up 2 jobs in the last day from it...im not really into earning money so much as it puts pressure on me to turn up & do well. I would much rather just do what i want to do in my own time so i will see how i go.

Gus, don't worry mate, they were huge here too and I remember running into magazine stands because the new music magazine was out with a Peter Garrett invertiew. I bet Ivar's age has something to do with this... :D

Great shots, my man. They made my ears go =beep= as if I were there, right next to you.
enjoy being here while getting there

You got some excellent shots there! But what really makes me nervous
is that I wanted to buy the 50mm/1.4 over the 50mm/1.8 II for my own
concert photography. I dont see anything wrong with the bokeh and
out of focus areas which is said to be the weak spot of the 50mm/1.8.
Great now you've got me thinking again. Again, great pictures!

There are other advantages to the 1.4, like faster focusing, better build...
