Hi you'll

Its been a rough two weeks but I'm feeling better. I managed to drag my carcas out of bed and do some shooting for the first time in two weeks. The wetlands looked sweet in the morning light

    Glad to see ya Harry!!
But man, those two weeks got you bursting with inspiration as I can see :D Those shots are awesome, all of them. Each has it's own merits, the colours of the first, the most excellent second photo with that truly remarkable light and superb composition and pose! Then the white egret... man, the composition on that one, bowdown.gif that reflection is purrrrfect! The egret in flight is VERY clean and sharp, you have improved more and more over the last weeks!
The last one really made me chuckle rolleyes1.gif thanks for the great photos Harry!

Ed and I have the flu! Ed kept putting off getting his flu shot, then we got the news that people over 50 were eligible, but the flu got us before we could get the shot!. Pretty miserable, but after 5 days I think I'm back to human until I decide to do anything like make breakfast, Laughing.gif.

Anyway glad you are better! Love this in flight photo, you are really getting these down pat and making it look way too easy.

Harry, you have such great bird shots! Now what are you going to do. Being sick seems to have done you good!

I have been waiting for you, impatiently. You get your bird shots as they are feeding in the AM. Do they also feed in the evening, or dusk, any civilized hour, tea time, cocktail hour?

I went out to shoot birds one afternoon: I got shots but not of birds. We have marshes, I see birds, but not in the numbers you are getting them. Where are my birds?

Also, your shots ARE getting better.......is that a new lens?

Glad to see you back. Love that first shot and all the birds that followed!

    Very cool...
to hear from ya again, Harry! :-)
I'm very very glad you're fine again, and shooting again. I advise you to shoot as much as you can, because that heals the soul quite a lot!

Of course, you got some great shots here, I think the GBH is a classic shot, very nicely composed. I also love the exposure you get on those white birds, that's hard stuff to do!

BTW, are you using the 300mm f/4 + TC-14E II on these shots? If so, what a hot combo, eh?

    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Take care!

Thanks Sid. My flight shots are getting easier now that I have the 300mm/f4 lens. AF-S does make a big difference.

That flu is mean. :cry I started out with it and then I went into bronchitis and then when the bronchitis was getting handled I came down with another bug. :(: Not a fun time.

My new 300,,/f4 lens is really helping with the flight shots. My keeper ratio became much higher when I got that lens.

Ah, those black spots. When I first viewed the shot I thought my sensor had been infected by mold or something. When I looked again I realized that they were actual spots in the water. Thats the problem with those swampy areas, they just get swampy looking. :D

    Great hearing from you again.

As for the birds' activities. Birds have one main activity and that's feeding which they will do for most of the day. When I shoot I time my shooting for the lighting so I will shoot in the early morn (sunrise + 2/12 hours) and late afternoon (sunset - 3hours). The birds might be active in the other parts of the day but the lighting sucks.

The new lens (300mm/f4) does help (I used it on the last 3 shots of this post) but the Reznick Workshop is the main reason for the improvement in my pics.
