    Harry....
There's no stopping now...once the thought entered your head you were doomed. Stop pussyfootin around, give your wife a big hug, say "I Love You, I'll be back later" and come home with the prize. The trick to this scheme is to let her shoot with it first rolleyes1.gif

If you get the 400, you're not getting more than you already have. I really
don't think the f2.8 will be worth it in oh-so-sunny FL.

The Sigma? Maybe a bit more but is it worth it? Could be. The zoom part
    is attractive...

:cry Ah, the best laid plans. My plans for new glass went to hell yesterday. I was going out shooting and I took 17-35 2.8 out of the cabinet. I failed to note that the lens carrier top was not closed. The lens fell out and hit the tile floor from 4 feet up. :yikes

There was no external damage to the lens but when I put it on a camea the camera wouldn't meter correctly with the lens. So the 17-35 is off to Nikon land for what should be an expensive repair.

Later that day I was setting up the 500 and I found that the screw that holds the hood onto the lens is no longer operational. Its not worth the effort tp get it repaired so I had to order a new lens hood for $300+

    :bash

Now is not the right time to discuss additional expenditures for new glass while I spend $ repairing my current line-up.

    Maybe next year. :(:

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
