Well Susan - it's been 5+ days since you started this thread. Are you any closer to a decision? I guess I'm just looking forward to learning what you decided!

    :nah .......soon though!

Late to the party as usual....

    Did you decide already?

I'm going to vote for just using your name, and not so much 'naming your business'. It's a lot more unique as opposed to a lot of other more generic way, but also very important (to me at least) it's more personal.

I'd rather have my portraits taken by "susan" or "susan desisto" as opposed to with "desisto photography" or "desisto studios". Sounds a little :crazy i know.

I keep going back and forth...but I am leaning towards using my name....coming up with an original business name is next to impossible. I am just not that creative! You realize as soon as I figure this out I have to get started on customizing my site? You may regret this, Ivar! lol3.gif

Well, thanks to Jonathan I decided to just go ahead with my name, and make my business name Wendell Beitzel Photography. Thanks Jonathan!! And I hope everyone else is able to find just that right name!

I think your name is very original and I saw your business cards ... they look great! Good luck! thumb.gif

Another meme for "can't think of a name'.

I too am also looking at jumping into the semi-pro pool and have been wondering on what to call it. I (like yourself) want to get it right the first time too.

I guess I am reasonably lucky, my name is 'Matthew Corr'.

So "matt corr photography" is not too bad.mwink.gif

Since I am such a huge bugger (6'7") I was also looking for a business name that was a play on height.. (eg. Hightower photos) but to my suprise most of the ones I looked at were already taken!

Let us know what you chose!

I'm thinking Matt Corr could look great with the right font having the double tt's and rr's. Have you done a business card yet? I did look on another site that does photographic websites (mostly professional). They list all their customers, and I would say 85 percent use their name. Then every once in a while you run across a great one and wonder "why didn't I think of that?" :D

No on either...that's why I need to get this naming thing out of the way! I need some business cards like now! I do have some website ideas picked out, and I'm working on the types of galleries I want, etc. The more I do, the more I realize how much there is to do! I still have more lighting equipment I need to purchase as well. I'm getting excited that I've made the decision to do this, though! :ivar

I made the nump in Oct, '06 and have found that I now have two full-time jobs! I work my 9-5 (actually, 5:30A - 1:30P) and then I work another 6 - 8 hours on getting things going, doing photo shoots, researching this or that, customizing my site, market research, business networking, lead generation, and on and on and on and on and on and on.....

Yesterday, I was talking to my son (24 yrs old), commenting that I didn't understand why I was so tired. His only only comment, "Because you're working two job!" and walked away, shaking his head.

I haven't had this much fun since I learned about girls, but it sure is a lot of work!!

it's funny scott, you and I went 'pro' seriously aroudn the same time last year. In the past 48 hours I've shot two on-locations (each about 30 min from my house), worked two eight hour days, met with a prospective wedding couple, and those were just the tasks "on my schedule!" it is certainly exhausting during the "overlap" stage....the minute my 2 year old goes to bed tonight, i am too!

all good problems to have though thumb.gif

Hi Stella...forgot I even started this thread! I ended up just using my legal name with Photography attached to the end. Seemed the easiest solution! mwink.gif
