Hi all... My name is Steve and I'm a FMer that's been doing a bit more lurking around here lately. Nice place you've got here! :D

I'm posting this image as much as to say hello as to have something for you to look at. This Snow Leopard is captive, but I hope you like the image...

Thanks so much, Harry... I just had to check out your web page, and it immediately reminded me of an incident when my best friend and I were probably 12-14 years old. My buddy was taunting a squirrel in it's nest, mimicking it's bark and generally being loud. When my friend started throwing rocks at the nest, the squirrel b-lined it down the tree, head first and full steam ahead, and chased my friend for a good distance through the woods.

Granted, this animal was provoked, but the reaction was amazing to me.

People see squirrels as cute little things when they are actually evil rodents. When I was a young tadpole we had a family cat. One day the cat chased a squirrel up our apple tree. Now cats climb trees head first but when they come down its butt first. A squirrel goes up and down head first.

The rodent came down the tree behind our cat and then started nipping at the cat's butt. It ended up with the squirrel treeing our cat. I naturally got elected to go up the ladder to rescue the stupid cat. The dumb & trrorized cat scratched the heck out of me as I rescued it. I haven't had much use for cats or squirrels since.

I agree that he looks like he's intently focused, but if memory serves me correctly, he was about as laid back and casual as could be. Thanks for the kind welcome, Skippy... see you over in "Other" for a Macro or two soon.

Hi, Steve. Eventhough I'm not a fan of B&W photos I must say that this is one of the few ones that I really like, to the point that I'm thinking about doing some B&W conversions myself. The lighting and the dynamic range make your photo very pleasing.thumb.gif
