Just wanted to post up and say I have really been enjoying all the photos in this thread so far. Since it's almost always raining here in Oregon I have yet to grab any decent shots during my time off from work but I am going to try and jump in on this within the next week or so, looks like fun!
I think there is still too much red in the face, though. I am still trying to get a good handle on i2e and what to set, when to set it, and what the different options do.
Direct from RAW wins hands down (in my book at least)

Rain's fine, at least if you can make it a "sping rain"

O.k. - why? Always interested in getting better/getting it right.
The reason the i2e tweak is more appealing to me is due in part to the greens. To me the grass looks better. But, the skin tones are still to red. I was also trying to get rid of some of he dark shadows in the face, but then that lightens the whole image. Yeah - I know this can be tweaked with masks - but I was trying to get something without that extra step.

It's kinda hard to verbalize..
#2 looks artificial and overprocessed.
#1 looks normal.
I've seen the effect of shadow/highlight many times myself and I grew to dislike it alot. Maybe I simply developed a case of over-sensitivity in this area...
Spring means different things to different people
Been thinking about this a lot. Went to the park looking for some shots and the small town look and feel got me thinking...
Ok, this is my first time posting in the technique section. This isn't a great photo, but I do feel it gives the feeling of spring. I want to reshoot this, but the weather sure doesn't seem to want to cooperate.
I dislike the dark shadow on her face and I think it's too pinky or orangy or something, but I keep trying to adjust it and it ends up worse. But I love the innocence of her picking up the easter eggs.

Nope. Not in New York, anyway. Red-bellied woodpeckers stick around all year, all seasons. But, he shot the bird on his spring walk.

The mid-Georgia skyline, filled with springtime pollen. Yes, the sky really is that green when the trees are doing their springtime thing.
my words, my "pro"pictures, my "fun" pictures, my videos.
Wow! Some pollen...
This is a really nice shot, actually! A trip to LAB, some curves, mebbe some artistic filter - and it's gonna look like a Constable painting!
