Thanks peeps...
No, it was quite impromptu as my wife and I were carousing the pits for the SX. I did some work with Roland during the last USGP at Laguna and he came up and said hi.. I noticed that the end of the straightaway looking back at the corner was empty, plus the sun was going down and asked if he'd just mind posing for a few shots and that was it..

The one from behind with the stands rising up skyscraper-like is most impressive.
The Ben Spies leaned over with flames spitting out and blurred rider in foreground is cool.
On the Roland shot where you thinking, "now if that darn fence weren't there and he could pull the bike in front of the DAYTONA letters."
As it is, the light was still very nice, making a lovely shot.
The wide scenic podium while everybody else was shooting tight was different.
Since it's only an hour's drive for me, I'll have to actually get over to Bike Week/200 sometime. The idea of gridlock and Harley posers keeps me away every year.
Maybe I'll show up in 2008 and take your picture.
The podcast was cool. You're the best out there in my opinion. Keep up the good work and continued success!
Shaun
Fantastic shots, they just get better and better.
I used to dream of all things Nikon, then I got the bill.

The season's just started man!
Sorry thought it was over by the title
You know, I kinda like the barriers in the Roland shot, for what reason I'm not sure yet but it is there.
I'll be there next year as well as the tyre testing at the end of the year so maybe then perhaps?
Thanks for the kind comments too

In all seriousness, wear a nice wide brimmed hat and keep yourself covered up (I'm sure you've seen my "jungle outfit"). From my own experiences I always suffer more sunburn at Fontana than any other track on the AMA circuit, and my feeling is the amount of bounce than is generated from all the concrete (very little grass), hence why I keep my sleeves rolled down , collars done up and hat.

Just my opinion :P.

Hey Mike..thanks for the feedback...
Do you mean this one?
This was shot on purpose as I have got tired of "static" race group shots so I went with a 1/160 shutter and went with the first bike out of the following group (if you check out my site you'll see the more "traditional" group shot - another version was used in this months RRX with (my shot of) Ben Spies on the cover)...as for the others seeing their faces...kinda hard when they're all wearing dark visors and as much as you'd like them all to wear clear visors they ain't gonna do it, no matter how much they like you. It's why we sometimes wish for overcast days as the clear visors appear!
At least you can see the Bryan's face in the shot above!
