    Are you shooting with a Nikon now? Those are the best Osprey pictures posted; detail, exposure, color. Wow Mike, how can anyone top these? Gotta be a Nikon. bowdown.gifbowdown.gifbowdown.gifbowdown.gif

    You make a Canon shooter proud (Sorry William. mwink.gif)

    You've been out on the boat again. Am I correct about that?

    Hi Mike

    See what happens when someone else isn't crowding you in the boat. Awesome display...could you get your feathered friend to bring in a bigger branch next time, it doesn't quite fill the frame.

    Canon - Nikon? Give this man a disposable and your jaw would still hit the floor. It is only who is behind the glass that really impresses me.

    Love your work, Shane

    Ospreys in the UK are guarded very tightly. A nest in Scotland has a camera pointed at it 24 hours a day to prevent egg stealers. It caught this action

    You can find it in Video nad audio news on this page if the format is wrong

    How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Thanks Joel. Yes...shot from the boat. I don't do much other kind of shooting this time of year. I have the luxury of several osprey nests and many island rookeries all to my self when I go by boat. I'm not much up for standing elbow to elbow with a few dozen photogs at the Venice rookery. It's really nice to be out on the water all alone with the birds, the camera and my split personality. eek7.gifrolleyes1.gif:D

    That's the way to get pics no one else has. We have a local pier that goes about 300 ft out into the bay. It's a favorite for sunsets and picture takers. They will all gather at certain areas and go home once the sun sets. They miss the best light when the pier lights come on and the sky start turning orange and blue. Get off the beaten trail.clap.gif

    Mike;
    This might be a dumb question but how did you get so close. The EXIF info says you're shooting with a 200mm lens but the shots seem much closer. They don't appear to be crops of larger images either. What's your secret???

    Thanks for stopping in Stan. The ospreys are protected birds in Florida (an most U.S. states). It's nice to see our osprey population making a strong comback.clap.gif

    Well, sigh
    That's the way it should be! I don't even like ospreys, but these photos are amazing. I especially liked the one of the osprey landing and it looks as if it's looking straight at you, that one's almost scary! A boat heh? Hmmm.... well I prefer to be shooting either by myself or one or two photo buddies, I don't do crowds well.
