That's the way to get pics no one else has. We have a local pier that goes about 300 ft out into the bay. It's a favorite for sunsets and picture takers. They will all gather at certain areas and go home once the sun sets. They miss the best light when the pier lights come on and the sky start turning orange and blue. Get off the beaten trail.
Mike;
This might be a dumb question but how did you get so close. The EXIF info says you're shooting with a 200mm lens but the shots seem much closer. They don't appear to be crops of larger images either. What's your secret???

Thanks for taking a look. I did use a 200mm lens. I used a boat to approach some nests near my house. The birds are very cooperative for me. I suppose stuffing the folage band on my camo hat with fish doesn't hurt either.
These are awesome. Every time I take a picture that I feel pretty good about someone like you will post these kind of pictures and make me realize that I have soooooo far to go.
Thanks KG. I felt the same way when I first started. In fact it wasn't that long ago....maybe 2 years ago, I saw my first osprey in flight shot and thought if I could only get 1 shot like that. Keep shooting. It will come.
That's the way it should be! I don't even like ospreys, but these photos are amazing. I especially liked the one of the osprey landing and it looks as if it's looking straight at you, that one's almost scary! A boat heh? Hmmm.... well I prefer to be shooting either by myself or one or two photo buddies, I don't do crowds well.
Thanks for commenting. Don't like ospreys? Don't like ospreys? Man....
Nice shots as usual!!! I'm going to try to make it out to a local Osprey nest today. Unforunatly it's on a pole in the middle of the Patuxent River, so I had been unable to shoot it before. I just got the Bigma so I should be able to reach it now. Hopefully I can get down there this afternoon and get a couple shots.
