Joy, joy clap.gifclap.gif I checked the Nikonusa site for status on my D2X and it was shown as having been shipped back to me on 6/29 and it should be home by July 2.

The total time for the repair is close to 4 weeks which is twice as long as my other three experiences with Nikon's repair service. I'm not thrilled with the time this all took (I haven't been informed yet as to what part they were waiting on). If the camera comes back in good condition I will be a happy camper.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Harry,

I am hoping you have another cause for celebration this Fourth of July! Fingers crossed.

The D2X was delivered this morning and its in fine shape. clap.gif

The Nikon folks replaced the shutter mechanism, the display window, the rewind side rubber, the rubber grip, the apron, the card cover, and the bayonet mount. They also adjusted the mirror angle and did a general cleaning of the camera.

Total time from the date it left my house to its return home, 26 days. Total cost (including shipping and tax) $410.00. I can't say I'm happy with the length of time it took but they did the job right.

    ...

    I just love a happy ending. thumb.gif

So when are you heading out with it? (More BIFs, don't you know.)

I'll be giving it a try on the 4th when I shoot our local 4th of July parade (once or twice a year I shoot non-feathered subjects :D ).

It's a conspiracy I tell you. The Universe wants Harry to shoot Canon, so it arranges for a) Canon to release the oh-so-tempting Mk III to get him thinking along those lines, then b) breaks his D2 and finally c) causes the Nikon techs to lose it, thus ticking him off at Nikon once and for all. It all makes sense. deal.gifD

I think there's somethign to this theory... Harry, I'd love to see what you can do with a MkIII and a 400.

Nice job, Harry. It's quite thoughtful of you to start this thread in the first place, solely for other's benefit. I hope your camera is in perfect condition for you after that long wait without it.
