Hi Y'all,

My good friend Mike McAtee came over in the morning and we started shooting at the Viera Wetlands at 7 AM

161222436-O.jpg

The above two shots were with my ole D100 which is serving as my back-up camera while my D2X is in for servicing.

161222489-O.jpg

161222518-O.jpg

we shot through the afternoon and the went to this burger joint on the river that serves some tasty 8 ounce burgers:cheeburga with home-made potato chips and we met up with another good friend, Gale, and some shooters from the Nikon Cafe. I had a few Coronas to go with the food. :beer

A little past 7:30 PM I got some shots of a different type of bird

Fortunately the launch occurred right after I finsihed my burger or I might have been faced with a real tough choice. :rofl

Excellent shots Harry. Looks like you had a great advantgage point for the shuttle lift off:ivar I am going to have to make it back over there again one of the days. I was thinking about this one but the 528 was a parking lot coming out of Orlando so I said forget it.

What is that second bird in your shots. Looks like a cross of a vulture and a duckne_nau.gif

It was a real good day, good food, Coronas, good folks to hang with and some good shooting. It doesn't get much better.

Thanks Dave. Going to a shuttle launch is a lot of fun but a real pain to get to. Traffic going in and out is a killer. I was lucky because Gale got there 3-4 hours before launch and saved me a spot.

The duck in question is a muscovy duck. I had never seen one in Viera before.

Great series - I especially love the last shot of the shuttle! The red, orange and yellow against the blue sky is beautiful, especially the orange glow.

I'm retired Marina that day was a lot of work, lots of fun too but boy was I bushed at the end

I never eat while shooting, I mean shooting the camera with one hand and having the Corona in the other makes it kind of hard to deal with a burger too. :D
