7 July 2007, 3.32pm - keen rugby fans braving the winter elements to watch a senior competition match between Poneke and Old Boys University at the Basin Reserve, Wellington, New Zealand

I woke up when the clock chimed 7, and thought: I have seven minutes to do something cool. I always make coffee first thing, so why not? Here it is, complete with random crumb and #$%!! cat hair on the lens. Adjusted for distortion but not much else.

Such a gorgeous day here! Thought I'd stop by the park on my way back to the hotel after work and take a few photos.

Here are two I captured today; Can't decide which I like better. You guys tell me and I'll delete the loser.
1. Look, up in the sky!
Yes, it's Los Angeles' iconic city hall, or some may recognize it as the Daily Planet Building, made famous in the Superman TV series of the 1950s
self edit: OK, the boss man has spoken and #2 is the winner. I'll post city hall on the world in pictures site.
2. Los Angeles Convention Center: photo styled as an architectural rendering and sized in Shay's oh-so-fave 10:4 aspect ratio.

Shot in my back pasture in front of the apple tree... this is a composite of 2 exposures and some unique blending of an old revival chair my daughter has in her horse barn... she was sitting in this chair earlier today, reading a book...

It was just too cold, damp, gray and miserable all day long. I had all sorts of ideas on where to go to take some decent pictures yesterday, but alas, the gloomy day just dampened all enthusiasm. So here's a vignette of my world from my doorstep.
From top left to bottom right: Looking south. Gray skies, and utility poles and wires. Directly west a zoom of the trees across the highway. My neighbor's Roses (white and red). It "misted" enough last night to leave some puddles. My grandson's thrift store skate board wheel.

As you can see, it's in FL, and i hope I'll be the lucky one (right!)

"Auspicious Skies on an Auspicious Day"
Monsoon season has started in southern Arizona. All day I was waiting for the perfect 07.07.07 photo moment, and around 7:30pm I was granted my wish. The rainbow was fading fast, I just caught the tail end by surprise. I was in a rush. If only I had checked the camera settings and had taken it off of automated portrait mode it could have been better. I'm not sure what it's focused on, but hey --- it's a rainbow in the sky on July 7, 2007!

Some friends of mine got married today at Oakland's Paramount Theatre. It is a beautifully restored 1931 Art Deco building designed by Timothy L. Pflueger. I wasn't the official photographer, but you know how it is, I brought my camera anyhow. This is my favorite shot from the day; taken not too long after the (brief) ceremony at about 11:20am PDT. It was dark in there--this was shot at f/1.4 1/50s ISO 1600.

This is one of my favorite vista points. Sweeping view towards Ventura (see the lights in the far left corner? That's Ventura, 20-something miles away).
The S-curve up front is Hwy 23.
And of course I could not miss the latest 10:4 rage :-)

* short story:
So Penny and I went up to her horse farm to shoot some photos this morning. We stopped in at quickchek to get coffee. We paid and on the way out Penny drags me over to the scratch off machine. We NEVER play scratch off... only time is at home on holidays or something with family. At any rate... Penny tosses in two bucks and tells me to pick one. We didn't realize but they were all empty on everything except $3 bingos. We didn't have any more singles so Penny waited in line to get change for a 5. Anyways, we get the scratch off, we start driving and i'm scratching away. After I go through the entire thing I look to see what I won. Right off the bat I about s*** myself... I'm like... OMFG we just won $100!!!! I'm getting all excited and I start checking the numbers. As soon as I confirm I go NUTS. I'm like... YEAHHHHHHHHH b****!!! HAHAH!! So then I realized I had three more games to check!! HAH! I don't see anything on #2, and #3. So I get to the #4 game (the big payout game) and I'm looking. Nothing?! So I start checking potential wins and i'm like... wait... the "7"... I got an 18... and wait... I got a 36 too!! s***!!! THATS A "7"!!! WE F-ING WON AGAIN!!!! I check all the numbers again... WE WON ANOTHER $100!!! $200 TOTAL off a $3 ticket!! OMG I called all of my family and told em to go get some scratch off.... So we rode out $5 of it on another $5 bingo and broke even, then went back to quickchek to buy from the same machine, but they were all dried up. No more scratch off. Anyways... up $197
Dawn breaks on my 51st birthday.....

Taken in Madrid, Spain, 7/7/07 AM. I was walking around the Plaza Mayor shooting pics for this event, when I happened to glance at the street sign of a tiny passageway I have never paid much attention to. It was 7th of July Street and I figured there had to be a message there.
Cheers,
Thanks for giving me the perfect excuse to finally go and take pictures from the park!

This photograph of one of the bridges that connects Boston with Cambridge was taken from the Charles River Esplanade just past 7:04 p.m. on July 7, 2007 during an evening walk to enjoy the end of a beautiful, hot summer day. And to take pictures, of course. The wind was kicking up and the skies suggested that rain was on its way, but some folks were reluctant to call it a day and remained on the floating dock near the Hatch Shell to enjoy the evening. The photograph is geotagged. Click here for exif.

Lost track of the date. When I realized it was 7/7/07 it was already 7pm. As I knew I was running out of light, I grabbed my camera and it had the canon 100mm on it. All I could do was go out into the yard and I took this. It's one of my favorite plants.
