Greaper's Shootout pics.
Before I get to the images let me say thank you to Smugmug, Andy, Marc and Dave for putting this trip together and for sharing your knowlege.
Nothing accelerates your learning faster than spending time with people that share your passion.
I met several new friends, renewed old friendships and missed a few folks that did not make it this time around.
My wife Editha and I arrived early on the first day so we had a little time to look around before hooking up with the other smugmuggers.
Right off the bat I was struck by the majesty of this place. If you have never been there, put it at the top of your list.
We found some small waterfalls, and i am glad because we never revisited them with the group.
Throughout the trip I was thrilled by the beauty of the aspens with their white trunks and yellow/orange leaves. I took many aspen images but most of them didn't impress.
Once we were hooked up with the group, morning sunrise shoots were the norm. Twice we went to the "Wild Goose Island" turn out. I was told by Marc that it is the "Tunnel View" of Glacier. Anyone that went to Yosemite knows what that means.
Here are a couple of those morning shots. You will probably soon see many similar shots as the red smugmug hats were everywhere.:D
I think one of the difficult things to do in a place like tis is to take a landscape that is different. I tried to put that in the front of my mind.
As the days went by, focus for much of the group switched from the landscape to capturing the wildlife of the place.
And last but not least, I cannot forget to mention one of the things that makes Montana what it is. Free roaming livestock, in the streets even.
I will save my people shots for later. Thanks for taking a look at some of what I toook home from the trip to Glacier.

It was good to see you and the wife again.
Man, that coyote sure looks familiar.:D
Basking in the shadows of yesterday's triumphs'.
Awesome stuff!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
Lovely work and thanks for coming

Glacier is one of my favorite parks, and it's fun to see it through other's eyes too.

Your composition, and the coordination of foreground and background is excellent. You can be very proud, indeed, of these images.
It was good to see you again, and to say 'hi' as we passed each other on the way home in T Roosevelt Nat Park.

It was a trully great pleasure meeting you again & your wife.
Lovely shots too.
I'm surprised that I haven't commented yet on your photos. I thought I had! These are absolutely beautiful - great foregrounds as Jim said, beautiful waterfalls and you captured the leaves and the wildlife perfectly.

The connections you make on these trips make the forum a much more personal place, and returning home to share the common experience is a pretty strong connection.
It is hard to explain how much fun these trips are. Thank you all for helping make it great.

I think you hit the nail on the head perfectly. It's something I have never really been able to express myself.

All great shots, but this is exceptional! I'm going to have to make time for one of these shootouts, good learning experience and they look like a lot of fun. Hmmm...perhaps if I retire...

It was nice to see you and Editha again this year. As always, your shots are top notch, but the aspen and horse shots are really special.
