So lets have them. I know everyone at least tried one pano so lets see what everyone came up with. Here are a couple from me to start it off. The first is 7 horizontal frames stitched but after cropping is about 5 frames. The second is a two row pano from 20 vertical frames cropped down to about 16 frames. The first is handheld, the second is on a tripod with the RRS pano package.

(7405 x 2136) Canadian Rockies from the top of Whistler. Mount Robson is the small white peak in the upper left.

(8788 x 4394) The last mornings sunrise, view just to the southeast of Chief Mountain. Just after the clouds killed our sunrise but I liked the cloud formations.

Nowhere near as colorful as yours, Nick, but here's mine from the top of Bear Hump overlooking Waterton, Alberta.

I'm not so good at these but it being big sky country of course I came back with a few (like everyone else)

    The only semi-OK traditional one:

    My speed pano:

But of course with the TS lens I had to try square panos and this was the format I was shooting the most. I have a lot to learn in this area because it sounds a lot easier than it actually is... at least to me. ne_nau.gif

I have one a version of this one that is a 12 shot pano with the 70-200, taken in portrait orientation that I did the lumiglow thingy on.

This just happened to be the one I have uploaded, it's a 3 shot pano with the 70-200 taken landscape.

Listen up Schmoo, I would love to have the first shot of yours. You did real good clap.gif. I didn't get one shot of Wild Goose Island that I liked. For some reason I chose to stand right in front of a tree that blocked the mountain on the right that got lit up.

Very nice Christina! Was it hard to stitch flowing water? I don't think I even took one pano of flowing water.

Wow! These are all spectacular, wish I had been there -- these photos moved Glacier up a few places in my "to visit before I die" list (which is a good thing given global warming).

Were these photos taken on a forum organized trip?

I'll post a couple from Glacier's southern cousin "Torres del Paine" park in Chile (Patagonia) -- Who is up for a trip?!

(four images from a 20D stitched)

    52646714.oUxovADJ.cuernos_panoramic_yanez.jpg

(only 1 1/2 frame stitched together, but it gives an idea of the place)

    Pyanez,

Glacier was our forum's shootout this year and it was a beautiful place, indeed! That is a lovely pano of a place that I think I need to visit sometime, myself. I really love the diagonal that the slope creates right through the middle. Very dynamic! Hope to maybe see you at a shootout soon. :D

Thanks everyone. Dixie that means a lot coming from you. I've admired your work for a long time and it was great to finally meet you.

Here's another. This is from the second morning at Jasper. As you can see the weather decided not to play nice. I can't decide which crop I like. The full pano or the cropped? What do you think?

I think the full is more dramatic, but that's just my opinion. :D Nice job and great colors!

I'm not that great at the pano thing but with all of the talk I had to try a few.

    Two images shot horizontal, stacked.

    202584914-L.jpg

    3 images from the falls

    202576574-L.jpg

    And I think 5 images

    202583614-L.jpg

It was fun to do, and at least try the things we were discussing each night.

Nick I vote for the crop as it's cleaner and it has less to detract from the nature-induced simplification of shapes and tones. I might even go so far as to chop the reeds on the right, but that's just me.

I think the weather not playing nice can be a blessing in disguise.

Nick, there is a disturbing duality in your rock/water/mountain pano. When I look at it quickly (either the crop or the full) it appears as two images to me. That stark super-straight line between the water and the background just doesn't work for me - breaks it up. Maybe its just me.

Yeah I was worried someone would notice that. That's why I sort of like the larger version because the trees on sides "break" the dividing line. But I guess not enough. Thanks for all the input Christina, Schmoo and David.

Hi Nick - you are around, and posting even!!!:D

It took me a few tries to see what Wattsie was saying about the 'two images' thing -but I do see that now. Still lovely, but it is a bit disconcerting - like an optical illusion.

    How'd ya do it?
All these Panorama's are (drool inducing) awsome. clap.gifIf I may ask...How'd ya do 'em?
    Handheld?
Nodal slide and a bit (or a lot) of PP in PS?
    Full RRS pro pano rig?
...of course there's the T/S Canon lens for an extra twist?
    Or maybe something else?headscratch.gif

Those of us over here with the wet sleeves would like to know.
    Thanks!

How about all of the above mwink.gif. Some were done handheld, others with the RRS pano setup, some on a tripod without a nodal slide. However you do it just remember to overlap about 1/3 of the image on both sides and shoot all manual. That means WB, shutter, aperture, iso, and focus. It is very important not to change your focus, aperture, or zoom. Schmoo used a T/S for a couple of her shots. Photomerge in CS3 is very good with stitching panos, CS2 is terrible. Personally I use PTGui to stitch my panos. Just ask if you have specific questions and I'm sure someone that has posted here will answer.

I've tried for years to get a decent pano. The hints Mark provided made all the difference in the world.

Here's the first "successful" pano I've been able to stitch together. This was 4 images in vertical orientation.

    Amazing shot of Pyramid Mountain!
    Nick:

These are seriously nice, but the Patricia Lake one was particularly good... [I'm also jealous, b/c I was recently in Jasper, and while I scouted the area I never did get a good sunrise.]

    Super work!
