Hi Y'all,

This caracara was happily munching on this unfortunate coot

when it suddenly realized there were about a half a dozen photographers taking its picture

If it couldn't have some privacy it was taking its coot home

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Awesome series Harry. How wonderful to live in such a "critter rich" environment.

Great set Harry.. I've never seen a Caracara other than the photos here, what a great bird. It had that coot tucked away where nothing else would have seen it. Nice captures both in the tree and on the wing..clap.gifclap.gif

I only got to view the end of the meal so I don't know how it got the coot. They usually go after carrion but I've seen them go after live prey especially if the prey is sick or injured. The day before I saw an injured coot in the wetlands and it would had made a perfect target for the caracaras.

Thanks Stephen. I love shooting caracaras, they are a fascinating bird to observe.

Here's a link to an old post describing my first encounter with a caracara.
