Same problem using FF/Ubuntu. But here's the problem. (I'll test more deeply later, but it seems to be true right across all my browsers.)

If I log in from smugmug.com, that's fine. But I can't navigate using my nav bar or using any other links because they all use my custom hostname and this results in my no longer being logged in on subsequent pages. This means I must either key in all links manually, or use my control panel homepage to navigate around.

This was not a problem before. Sure is now, though.

Change your nav links to RELATIVE URLS and you'll always be fine, no matter which domain you are on.

    eg:

    /gallery/XXXXX_x2JgH
    /Galleries
    /Other

    :)

Okay. I'll give it a whirl later. Gotta say, though: while I get the solution, the syntax is about as clear as mud. When I get a chance I'll sift through the tutorials and see if I can find something about "RELATIVE URLS."

    Thanks again....

    It's really easy.

    Instead of

    http://www.moonriverphotography.com/gallery/123456_x87g4

    use
    /gallery/123456_x87g4

    Instead of

    http://www.moonriverphotography.com/Contact

    use
    /Contact

    Instead of

    http://williams.smugmug.com/gallery/123456_x87g4

    use

    /gallery/123456_x87g4

The mud has cleared and, nearest I can tell, all is now working.

    Thanks again, again...

    //subscribes. having same FF issue

EDIT// i've been using custom name (seppes.com) for logging in and out since i started smugmugging. i try to avoid using my nick 4theriders.smugmug.com simply because FF stores most used URLs first in history...and i have another website called 4theriders.com... just makes it faster/easier to use seppes.com instead.

Like we've said in our help page http://www.smugmug.com/help/acctlogin , login in/out from www.smugmug.com then you can click your bookmark for your custom domain thumb.gif

Gotcha: Pro account subscribers who use their own custom hostnames must login and logout using www.smugmug.com or yournickname.smugmug.com

*shrugs* it's no big deal to me, really, as the smugmug service is still stellar, IMO... it's just that a small quirk such as this most recent one that's popped up can be a minor (and i do mean minor) inconvenience...

rather that fix it though, you're supplying a work-around instead, using that as a "fix."

i'd previously NEVER had an issue logging in and out using my custom domain name. i see no reason why that suddenly has to change.

PS - i don't use bookmarks...ever. never have...still don't. probably won't in the future either. but then again, i'm the guy that still writes all my code in notepad too. :D

Uhm I think you're reading too much into things. We're fixing this issue right now as we speak, have been on the problem since 730am this morning Eastern time.

    Stay tuned....

FWIW Andy, I cleared my cookies both literally (so much for the diet) and figuratively (bye bye firefox cookies) before proceeding last night hehe.

Thanks for the hard work guys and gals!
By the way, I've noticed that my slideshow is still working on my main page, but heard that its not working for others. I'm just stoked that its still working and am deathly afraid if I tweak anything I'll break it heh.

Just a heads up that I am seeing the same thing. The only issue with logging into http://katzclix.smugmug.com is that I have it redirecting to my domain so I have to turn that off if I want to log in but obviously cannot since I cannot login. Will try with IE7...
Thanks for the note on the front of this thread Andy...

Just thought I would share this in case it helps. The problem is directly related to a recent update of FireFox. I first noticed the problem on my desktop computer yesterday while my laptop was working fine. FireFox on mylaptop was still fine today, until I restarted FireFox and FireFox informed me it has installed an update. At this point, the issue described in this thread started happening on my laptop. Looking at my desktop, it had already been updated to this new FF version.

Here are the release notes for what changed in FireFox.

    http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.12/releasenotes/

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill. Its a SmugMug issue, not a Firefox issue. We've got it fixed internally...hope to have it out soon.

Thanks for being on top of everything. I've been having the same issues for quite a few days now.

To get around it I go to my url and click log in. I don't log in but click on "your photos" up on top. That gets me in. I have to do it every time though.

Thanks again for the great support.

I thought this was interesting, so I tried something. I just re-submitted my info for my domain under the proPage, and it works great now. I didn't make any changes to the domain name, just left it the same and hit "submit".

I now stay logged in via Firefox and IE.

I am sure the guys are aware of this, but if you want a quick and easy fix, this seems to work.

I'm having the same problem overhere with FF2/WinXP. In IE6/WinXP I'm having no problems login in, but I'd rather work with FF as my logged-in browser. Looking forward to your solution!

It's coming - we've fixed it internally just waiting on go-live with some other stuff. Sorry for the delay!

I can still do everything I want using IE6, so I'm cool. I'm just glad you guys were allready on top of it even before I noticed the problem.

Try resubmitting your domain info under the pro account settings. It worked for me. Check the post below....

Doesn't make a difference for me. On www.smugmug.com I can see I'm logged-in, but on my own homepage it shows me logged-out again. I'll just wait and see what the support heroes come up with. And since it's almost midnight overhere the waiting part of that shouldn't be hard at all...

Right - use another browser other than FF... on a mac? Safari. On windows? IE. We'll get it live, as soon as we can.

I once heard a rumour there was a browser other than FF... Didn't really take it seriously, though.
