A Few From Yesterday's Session...

Yesterday I met some folks at the campus of LSU for some photos of their children. The weather was great, although it has taken a turn for the worse today. Children can often offer surprises, but we had no problems at all yesterday. Of course, bribery...with candy...will get you EVERYWHERE with kids!!!
I am still editing the shots we took. There were five kids altogether...and I will save the rest of that story for a later surprise!!!
These are just a couple of the out-takes....the real photos are Here
Hope you enjoy!!
1- A natural light shot in the clover....
2- Another with only natural light.....a little bribery?

We didn't really go there for that....but for something else. ( I am still editing those).
In this case....the clover shot...Mom wanted me to get a shot of them sitting on a Live Oak branch. THAT shot is .....eh...so-so....so I asked her if she minded if I laid them in the clover. We weren't there for shots in a tree either....but.....
Well... you will see once I am done with the edits. I may put more "out takes here later.....
Anyway....I DO appreciate the confidence boost!!! Coulda really come in handy yesterday afternoon, but I will definately stuff it in my camera bag for next time!!!!

....It kinda makes it easy for the photographer. As cute as they are, they were every bit as well behaved.
Thanks for looking, and the kind comment!!

I had to recheck who took the pictures, urbanaries or jeffreaux2.
Can't wait to see what the keepers are.
That first one should be a 16 x 24 or larger.

I agree on print size. If they were my kids I wouldn't hesitate to do that. I am thinking of all but insisting that she goes large with that one as it turned out rather nicely!
Thanks for taking the time to comment.

These are some seriously cute photographs. I really like the clover shot (that's a wall hanger!) and the B&W photo. Just wonderful!
If it were anyone but Lynne, I would say this is a dangerous statement to make in a public forum. But, I know Lynne - she'll not let it go to her head, rather she'll use it as inspiration to develop her craft/art to the next level (making it that much harder for the rest of us to keep up )

Thats not fair Scott. I was the one who was either gonna let it go to my head ...or use it for inspiration!!!
I doubt I am worthy of the comparison, but took it as a VERY good compliment.

Here's my take on it. I may be good (I can't really judge and opinions vary). You, IMNSHO, are better. Lynne, just blows the socks off everything she does!

These are very good, Jeff.
The lighting in the first is just superb and I wanted to ask for a little more information than just 'available light'. The lighting is so soft, so even and diffuse, was it overcast, was the sun behind a building, or just how was this shot captured. Reflectors, maybe? Was the second shot in the shade?

Thanks for the compliment PF.
-The first shot: The sky was mildly cloudy overhead, but mostly clear. The sun, however was somewhat low in the sky at my left (behind a building)and was shrouded in clouds. It played havoc with me for WB control popping in and out of the clouds. We were in shade. No reflectors used. None needed really looking up at a blue sky like that....just a big softbox up there. I had to hurry though....the kids didn't like looking at the bright sky.
- The second shot was in shade. The sun behind the building in the BG. No reflector or other device used for fill. I had to recheck this ones exif because of the catchlights. Flash did not fire. She was overlooking the parade grounds ( a huge field) and the catchlight is the piece of blue sky above the trees and Law Building in the distance.
- Another factor...we were more or less surrounded by warm colored exposed aggregate concrete surfaces. These surfaces tend to bouce warm light in every direction. This should have had little effect on the clover shot. I was wearing jeans, and a black long sleeved shirt....so no bounce from there either.

Truth be known, we could all probably use a little help. Thank you for the confidence boost!!! I work shift work, which affords me all the time I really need for photography right now. I hope to do photography full-time as soon as I reach retirement age. That gives me..... .....at least 15 years to get it right!!!
