When my wife and I were in Dominica US Virgin Islands last winter We saw this bus. Dominica gained their independence I believe 1974-1975. One of the first things they bought was this new school bus. They unloaded it from the ship and parked it here. Before it hauled a single passenger this tree fell on it, crushing it. It has set here since the day it was new.
For those that haven't been there, Dominica is a rather poor island but with nice friendly people. One of my favorite Caribbean islands.
Boiler room: This "office" was sitting idle for about three years, since flooding in our area shut it down. A week after I snuck into the abandoned boiler room out-building for this shot at a local mill complex, the building was razed. I felt really lucky to have gotten the shot a week later when I went back to get more photos and saw the demolition crew.
Abandoned Church: This IR was was taken in Austin NV. Austin is on Route 50, AKA "the loneliest road in America. It was a stop on a relay run across the country I participated in a few years ago (TREK USA).
Rebel Inn: Another image from the relay. This Inn was NOT on the list of dive hotels we stayed in along the way.
I got a few of these on the way to and from the Shootout...They're all IR shot with my modded Nikon D50
On route 89 north of Panguitch, UT headed toward Richfield, UT
These next few were on a farm right off Route 70 headed to Salt Lake City in Meadow, UT
This had to be the craziest place, right outside of Salt Lake City on Rt 80 toward Reno right on the shores of the Great Salt Lake. It was down the road from the Pier a couple miles. Closest thing on the map was a place called Seaside Resort. Beside the building which had been gutted was a burned out train car and what looked to be the remains of a water slide.
Here is a couple of shots... This is what is left of an old tow-rope on what was a ski hill in Belfast ME. It was last in service before I was born.

got out for what turned out to be a very long motorcycle ride from Purcellville, VA to Richmond, VA and back. Took mostly back roads and came across a couple of these along the way.
just found this - what a fun thread and some lovely images.
here are a few of mine that came to hand/mind easily... the first two: a deserted house in tuscany, where decay is polite,
and the third one, umbria, -less polite: this house is in the centre of a village - although deserted, (with the lamentations of someone being unreliable, and how everyone else was left feeling about it....enough said), it still seems to be a picturesque spot for someone, with their very modern white plastic chair.

Yes, I used my strobe with a gel filter over it.
Tripped the shutter then walked into the garage and lit the interior
with several pops of the flash.
I've been playing around with using gel filters lately.
