I looked, and can't make up my mind to vote. You really got me on the itching in strange places thing, I have about 100 chigger bites all over my body....got them Saturday....whaaaa!
Both are great shots by the way...I may vote for the 1st shot .

I like the first one best. I think it's because I prefer the composition with the horse. The ducky blanket threw me off a bit though...

The second one is very nice though too

Well, shoot. I like them both also. I guess I would maybe vote for the first one over the second, mainly because the model is looking toward the camera and the eyes grab you. I do like the composition of the second one better though and probably would have chosen it had there been some eye contact.

How's that for ambiguous??

I like #2....it looks like she is getting mentally prepared for the task ahead.

I like the eyes in #1, but the blanket was really distracting and I had to do a double take when I thought I saw ducks!

so....I like #2 best! there - now I won't itch!

okay, after thinking some more...

Viewing the two shots together. I like #2... however if I saw these shots separately I think #2 would suffer from a lack of context and I would prefer #1. Viewed separately #2 would be a great portrait but the wonder of why the girl is wearing a helmet would be distracting to me.

#2 mostly because #1 looks like it is front focused on the helmet, rather than her face.

It's a tough choice, I like number 2 because as was said earlier her eyes really grab me, however I am not entirely sure why she is wearing the helmet, seen by itself I would not necessarily know she was riding a horse and I wouldn't like that.

As has been said by others, the blanket in number one is distracting, however it does show what she is doing, and overall it is a fine picture.

I think I like #1 better because I can tell more what's going on (though I still don't understand the duckie blanket)

I like number 2 solely because the face is slightly soft and out of focus in the first one which I found more distracting than the all white background in 2. Less white would be better in number 2.

I like them both, but prefer #1. The horse gives context to the picture.

I like number two the best. Nothing takes you away from the subject. I think i would have liked to see it vertical though???

I like #2 the portrait better - but don't like the lack of the horse and the fact that she seems to be a head almost floating in white. I like the presence of the horse in #1, but as others have indicated, the blanket is really (IMHO) out of context.

I like #2 as the best overall shot.

For me I do not get the baby blanket in #1 and just kind of kills it for me. I am sure it is symbolic in some way but ....

If there was more horse (maybe up to the eye) and no blanket it would be #1 all the way.

I am going to have to say #2 also. I like them both, but would like #1 a lot more if you could see more of the horse, maybe had her head leaning on the main.

This is hard as both have good and bad points.

#1 (good) pose, composition and context; (bad) focus on her helmet not her and the blanket just throws me
#2 (good) much better focus (though it still looks off a touch), her expression, the jacket; (bad) no context

Vote: I have to say I have to go with what's behind door #3

Number 1 Sam....just change the color of the pink (color replacement tool) of the ducky blanket might do it. The blanket is a distraction because of the coloring conflict but like the angle and pose very well. There, now I don't have to itch all night

You took the words right out of my mouth Scott!!! If #1 were more technically good (focus, lighting), it would be my pick because of the interesting angle and context of the horse's mane. The baby blanket really distracts. #2 is much better technically, but no context. I don't know why she is looking out of the photo and what she is looking at. It's kind of strange to see a photo of a girl and not be sure why she is wearing a helmet...what sport does she participate in??? For some it's obvious, but not for all.
