Howdy folks. Just got back from another trip to Maine. I can't get enough of the place, and didn't take nearly enough decent pictures so I decided to have fun with a couple of them.

I wish I was half the man that my dog thinks I am...
Thanks!

Ah nice, it reminds me of how lucky I am to live here.
2nd highest taxes in the USA and no good jobs but the beauty is great!
I hadn't heard that. A couple folks around here can't wait to retire and move to Maine because the taxes are so low. Go figure. They might be looking at property taxes more than anything else.
I heard that somewhere but a quick Google search turned up a different story, My bad.
This has got to be one of the most interesting tangents I've seen in a landscapes thread!

If any of you make it to Acadia this summer, I recommend the scenic flights just before the island. I say this from experience..... I spent the best 3 summers of my life flying tourists around Acadia. The photo ops are amazing.
They have gliders, biplanes and of course the almighty Cessna 172's.
They were doing a pretty good business in June when I was there, too. We had a couple of days with honest 200ft ceilings, but mostly good - and they were out.
If I could stir up some work I'd move the airplane up there for a month in the summer.
low cloud ceilings are pretty popular in Acadia
Works for me - it usually means a day off, er - or least at home.
Images 4 and 5 have some marring in the sky on my monitor

Thanks!
This one might have marring on it too. I hope
Thanks --- we were there the 2nd week in June. I shot the night pictures between 8pm-9pm. There were quite a lot of people there, including a lot that walked right in front of the camera on the sidewalk. The exposures were all pretty long (20-30 seconds) so the people just blurred themselves out.
Nope, I didn't do any sunrise pictures. I wanted to get some down in Bar Harbor but didn't do it. Good intentions kept turning into sleeping in until 8. I missed out on some good clearing fog at Bubble Pond too for the same reason.
This was our second trip up there. We're thinking about maybe going in October - not sure yet. It's by far one of the most enjoyable, relaxing, and reasonably priced places we've been.
OK I don't get it

I'm Bar Harbor bound on Monday (for work). It might be worth it to spend my lunch on top of Cadillac Mtn.
Tip: if you are in Acadia National Park and using pro gear with a tripod, the park rangers will assume you are a professional and require you to get (pay for) a permit. If you shoot while holding the camera, they will think you are an irritating tourist and leave you alone.
Weird but true.
I busted a cable on my big camera, looks like I have the weekend off. Wish I was close to Maine
they must be, because our total tax burden (income, sales, property) is in the top 2 (sometimes tied for worst place).
Chooka chooka hoo la ley
Looka looka koo la ley
These are beautiful images (though the Rockland photo doesn't show for me).

Thanks... I moved the Rockland one by accident, here it is:
I love the visual diversity!
My wife and I are heading to Bar Harbor next week so I appreciate the inspiration.

I made the 3 hour drive to BHB today (work related) It was the kind of fog hanging around kind of day. The top of Cadillac Mtn was mostly cloudy but it was still nice to visit.
Thanks! I'm envious, it's stinkin' hot here - a dip in their water would be nice
It adds to the atmosphere
If I ever hit the lottery I'll fly up there and rent a car. Fuel prices and worrying about getting stuck in the fog make flying commercial a little more appealing right now though.
Sand Beach in Acadia has the coldest water I have ever felt and I have been swimming in the Maine ocean for most of my life.
Todays water temp ....approx 58 fahrenheit in Bar Harbor.
