OK guys, this one is more of a requirement than a theme. It will help you practice another tool for your photographer's toolbox and the actual subject matter is wide open. Filters, whether used on/in camera, or in post processing, can assist in achieving spectacular results and a unique look. Show us how subtle yet effective they can be, or go completely hog-wild. The choice is yours. A word of caution, however, using filters arbitrarily can lead to a confusing message within your image. Put forethought into it and show us some finesse!

[/B]Here's my entry. It's my first and I'm really excited about competing in this contest. I REALLY want the 40D as I am a photography student and am SOOOOO poor!
I used some TTV filters and masked the the layers to create more detail and contrast.

What have I done ? Well, I played a little with the filters in CS3 after exporting the TIF file from Lightroom.
Then back to this program to make some adjustments and here I am.
I couldn't do again an exact reproduction of the above picture.
It is unique. A masterpiece !rofl
Ok, this shot is called Postcard from Murano:

A little background to the photo:
Taken 17th July in Murano near Venice. When I processed it, the weather had been unkind (and my lack of skill!), and it just wouldn't pop like I wanted it to. So I decided to apply a brush stroke filter, I opted for the spatter effect, and am pretty pleased with the outcome, especially when I think the original is almost fit for the bin!

No physical filters available, so I made one by pouring honey over my lens to shoot the background. The bee was sharpened some and added.
