Wow! These are some great prizes for these challenges.
I've never entered these challenges before and probably still won't even though the prizes are a nice carrot to be dangling. My amateur skill level just can't compete with all of you awesome pros. I'd have to get a seriously lucky shot in.
I do love looking at the photos everyone submits though. They are always awesome! Keep 'em coming.

Sherry,
You just kind of have to jump in and go, I was intimidated at first too. The great thing about the chalenges is they push you outside your zone to try things that you might not try otherwise. I think that I'm improving and I know that I've tried things that I otherwise wouldn't have tried becaue of the challenges.
"The point in life isn't to arrive at our final destination well preserved and in pristine condition, but rather to slide in sideways yelling.....Holy cow, what a ride."
Just to clarify here: we will honor ties but not necessarily down to "fifth". In other words, if there is a distinct first and second, then a three way tie for third, then a tie for fourth, and another tie for fifth (giving a total of 9 people), we won't take everyone. We'll take as close to 5 people as we can. Make sense?
Hi
Why not set up a internal point system by the judges as the tie breaker, before the 5 winners are published to avoid all types of grief.

Hmmm, in these rounds the winners are chosen by public vote, not judges. As Doc said, we will pull the top 5 winners (not necessarily everyone in places 1st through 5th). That is, the top 5 with the highest number of votes. In the event of ties, we will get as close to 5 as we can.

Well, you've got to be 'in it' to 'win it' ... or even stand a chance
I'm no 'pro' ... and as regards luck ... the pic that got me joint 4th (after a couple of joint 3rd ers ...) in 2.2 was taken with an ancient D30 that half an hour earlier I'd lent to some friends ... I had to 'leg it' back to them asap to get it back (as didn't have any other camera kit available) so's I could take the pic while the light was still ok.
The 'organic' in the pic was also luck
If that lot isn't a 'skin of the teeth' job - I dunno what is ...
WOWSA....I am TOTALLY BLOWN away with this.!!! How cool is this?? TOO much to describe is how COOLIO!!
THANK YOU SMUGMUG, DGRIN, JUDGES and all the others that I don't know of...

One day, I started writing, not knowing that I had chained myself for life to a noble but merciless master. When God hands you a gift, he also hands you a whip; and the whip is intended solely for self-flagellation...I'm here alone in my dark madness, all by myself with my deck of cards --- and, of course, the whip God gave me." Ditto. The only one who cares what you look like when you dance is you, so get up and dance and enjoy the fun with total abandon. You might even learn a few new steps. I know that I have in the short period of time that I have been part of this community. If all else fails, throw your hands in the air and yell "Wheeeeeeeee!".
This is great!!! But as I am new to Digital Grin & smug Mug and I am getting used to this where do I post the photos to and what is the subject
