So Much Potential... Ruined Shot

I thought I'd post this as a what could have been. My other set didn't turn out as well as I'd like, this is a much smaller and thinner version. Love the mist coming over the hills. Unfortunately, due to the size... I cannot use it unless it is printed off at 50" wide... :cry

I'm sorry about that. I just saw a V8 commercial.
I don't speak pano, why is this ruined due to "size?" I rather think it's pretty and all the panos on your site are selling, why wouldn't anyone want a print taller than themselves?

This was a photo I was playing with for the first time last night, so maybe I'll revisited it via PS with some blending and masking. .

I'm sure you could give it some pinches like you did with the farmland pic. I think the beach could have more imapct and honestly it is too long out the right but I really like looking at it. I like the mist coming down on top. I like the water splashing! I love the colour! It's a nice creamy, soft blue.
I think the fog could use some more unnatural emphasis and a little more Sleepy Hallow... but that's me and my love of horror movies.:D

Seriously, I love the shot for the most part, but the water is just a bit too blurry for me, especially on the right side. IMO, it suggests some brushing instead of moving water. I'll be interested to see what you do with it. As is, it would make a great mural in an office someplace!
Thanks for sharing.

I like the idea of the contrast you used, however, that darkens the row of poplars and hardwoods along the far shore. I've struggled with this as well.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've thought about that and I think that if I can salvage something I like, I may keep the 50" pano and try stitching two fotoflots together for the basement after cleaning it up. I'll be posting a couple of different version here shortly of what I came up with along with how I came up with them . If worst comes to worst, I'm taking a photo trip again this fall for a week.
Incidently, this is what happens when you are more concerned about fishing, than you are shooting. What you don't see is my fishing rods and reels laying in the sand next to my tripod... (if anyone fishes you know how bad that is for your reels).

I like your new version--just a bit more color for some "oomph."

The fishing was spectacular. Cooking and eating them was pretty good too!

I really like your pano....How many shots did you put together? I'd work on it some if you think you need to and get it printed.
Sometimes we get stuck on a part of a photo and don't look at it as a whole. This is a photo that is taken in as a whole...IMO.

Thanks for your input. I tried b&w, but in my opinion, there just isn't enough leading lines in the shot or interesting cloud cover to merit it. Also, I would lose any of the detail I got the trees on the far shore.
