If it was just the older lady, I'd prefer black and white. It emphasizes the character in her face. With both people in the picture, the color version works the best.
It's obviously a birthday or other celebration, so the tiara on the other woman, in color, sets this off.
This is so a black and white image. In the color version the colors = particularly in the tiara = are distracting, and there is a purple cast that's disconcerting. But in the BW version it's all about the old lady and her hair. Great shot!

Noise is better, or less noticeable, in the color version as well. It is still an outstanding capture either way.
