Another call for photos!

Alright Dgrinners, as always, you guys came through in fine form with the mugs. We are working on another PR piece, and we are looking for more photos we can use for this one. This time the photos will not be printed on anything, but will be displayed online. As with the mug pictures, we will be placing copyright information on each picture to give proper credit where it is due. :andy You will still retain the copyright for the image of course, we just want the rights to display it online for this purpose.

We have a very specific theme this time as well. We are looking for shots of the 100 most recognizable/significant/unique/famous/semi-famous buildings and landmarks in Canada, the USA and the British Isles.

For example, a really stunning shot of the National Gallery in Ottawa, Edinburgh Castle in Scotland or the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor are all perfect. A picture of Andy's house is less ideal. :nono

The last day to submit an image is August 14th, so you have plenty of time to run out and get a shot of a local landmark you haven't gotten around to photographing yet. :photo

When posting (or emailing if you want), please identify the location so we know what we are looking at.

Thanks in advance, you guys are great! :lust

Hmmm as always anything that I have uploaded on my smug site is available for you guys. Right now only thing that woudl fit as a landmark would be the Golden Gate Bridge shots, I will go through my other photos at home and if there are any other good ones throw them up there tonight or tomorrow. The link for my smug site is bellow.

PS. I see the word submit but no instructions. Should people post the images in the thread here, email, or pm?

Thanks, I will take a look at your site a bit later. The Golden Gate Bridge definitely counts as one of those landmarks. :):

You can put them in this thread, or email them to ben@smugmug.com.

Well, I'm not sure this qualifies, but it is a rather well-known landmark. You may not have known the name, but chances are when you've seen a picture of St. John, this is what you saw - haha. This is a view of Trunk Bay from North Shore Road on the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands.

This is El Morro in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It's the old San Juan Fort. It's famous to them :)

After some thought over here, and in no small part due to the awesome quality of the pictures we have already received, we are actually expanding our interest a bit.

We are looking for some shots from the rest of the world as well. However, we are looking only for the ULTRA famous places. A few good examples:
    - Pyramids or Sphynx in Egypt
    - St Peters Cathedral in Rome
    - The Christ Statue in Rio de Janeiro
    - St Basils Cathedral in Moscow

When in doubt, go ahead and post it... as we will at least get to check out more stunning photography thumb.gif

and you are welcome to look.

I also have a Lake Louise shot that might be suitable, will have to dig it out as it isn't up on smugmug right now. Also, some generic Canadian Rockies shots - do they count as landmarks?
    2034922-M-1.jpg

I will see what else I can come up with - how specific is 'landmark'?

Ideally something recognizable, or intriguing enough that you feel it should be. :)

The Lake Louise shots would be a perfect example.

    How about Angel Glacier
    4130672.jpg

and a cloudy days view of Lake Louise and the glacier.
    3739907.jpg

These are very old shots and I would have to find the cd with the originals if you want them.

I am going to be in Calgary before the 14 of August - could get a shot of the tower and/or the saddlesore if you think that is appropriate. There are truely very few Western Canadian landmarks. Could get a wheat field or two - some foothills kind of landscapes.

The boat is called "The Maid Of The Mist". It is a tour boat that takes visitors close to niagra falls (you get plenty wet). The boat will be just about right there every ten minutes or so.
