Those shots are terrible. And when I say terrible, I mean I love them :) I wish there was a tiny bit more clarity in some of them but that is just me being really picky. 2 and 3 are my favourites.

I am not understaning how to take good night pictures. know I have alot to learn but any quick pointers would be appreciated. I do not have a tripod yet. they come out blurry and the background is black.but I would love to take pics in Disney this weekend at night. HELP
Can someone maybe give me some direction also on some tutorials or websites where I can learn more. Thank!!

Night shots usually mean long exposures. Here's a night shot tutorial that you might find useful. A tripod would be a necessity in this case. Basically, shoot in manual mode so you can set the long shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Turn off IS (Image Stabilization). Shoot, look, then adjust accordingly. Good luck.

Haven't done a ton of night work. Here is one I did back in June after the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. So it's a "cityscape" more than landscape, but I think it's a nice night shot. The buildings obviously all congratulating the team on their win.. in some form or another.

9 Shot pano. Don't recall what I stitched it using, PT Gui or PanoTools. Shot with my 50/1.4 @ f8, guessing ISO 160. Didn't even have a pano head yet, just used my ball head and it's rotating base.

    Hello all,

I am new to SmugMug and this is my first post. First, I would like to complement you all regarding the site. A very passionate group!!

Photography has always been a means of expression for me, although I have never shared my work outside friends and family.

Here are a few night shots of mine.

This one is from a spectacular evening in Yosemite. I was in the area for business and drove 3 hours just to see the area. It was a clear evening with a full moon. I couldn't believe there was color in the falls. After hours of reading about it, I found out how lucky I was being there that evening.

I'm an engineer. For me, the building of the bridge over Hoover Dam was more interesting than the Dam itself.

    Thank you all,

Hi Freddy and welcome! The second shot is really striking. I'm not engineer but I love seeing bridges go up because they look so precarious. It really is just hanging there thumb.gif

    Early attempt at HDR
This is one of my first tries at an HDR image, it's not very HDR-ish but I still like how it turned out.

All three of these images are great, but this one stands out for me - probably memories from being there...

    Moonlight Sierra
This pan covers the east side of California's Sierra Nevada from Owens Point 60 miles south to Mount Dana 60 miles northwest. The lights of the towns of Independence, Big Pine and Bishop lie along the valley floor. Six peaks over 14,000' appear on the ridge.

Some amazing shots here! Three more images of night stuff...

    1. Glencairn Mansion "on Ice"

    2. Lights Under Snow 1 (1:39 am)

    3. Lights Under Snow 2
    1194611446_yphbZ-L.jpg

Went back and tweaked the processing of the holiday lights buried under a heavy snowfall, but it's challenging! The first shot was much more straightforward. C & C welcome.

    Now that's heaven on earth....

Hey, thanks! It's heaven for us as well. A far cry from the acre of dirt we had when we moved in. Here's a wider angle night shot shot taken in the early spring while the palms still have a lot of brown from the winter. (And no that's not algae, the pool lights turn all different colors. :D)

I don't know how I missed this thread, since I like shooting at night. I just posted separately a few recent shots from Beijing in a new thread. Here are some shots from Shanghai, which I also visited last week...

From a bridge over the near by motorway. Was more interested in catching the stars which had been rather elusive all night.
