NE Atlanta this afternoon. A couple miles away you could find it for $2.89/gallon. All the stations, even this one had extremely long lines.

yes, we in the u.s. have had gasoline cheap vs. the rest of the world for a long time - looks like we're catching up. i know that i'm cutting back! i'm on my last minivan - will be getting a gas miser next vehicle.

Highest I've seen in Chicago so far is 3.31. But I have seen as high as 3.69 online.

Check out http://gasbuddy.com/ to try to find cheaper gas in your area.

I went to fill up early this morning and the attendant said I was lucky to be filling up today because they were going to raise the price $.50 tomarow. What a scam.

In Alberta Canada, we are oil rich. Or I guess I should say, the government and oil companies are oil rich. However, we are not immune to the price of oil.

Just gassed up @ 97.5 cents per litre, with many stations raising their prices tonight by 15- 20 cents a litre. Family in Montreal are already paying $1.35 per litre. in US dollars, this is about $4.25 US per US gallon. Ouch ....

However, I think this is a good thing. With gas being so cheap for so long, there has never been any incentive to look for alternatives. How often have you seen a Hummer or Escalade with just the driver? What a waste!

Just my 97.5 cents.

Chevron $3.15 as of this morning (was $3.05 yesterday).
I was on empty, had to get the full tank.

$3.39 per gallon for premium in Indiana. 1.07 Canadian dollars per liter on Manitoulin Island yesterday. About 20 dollars to fill my motorcycle's tank.

My local station filled up last night. The price is now $3.15/gallon. There were no lines so I topped off the car and motorcycles. I wonder at what point they will run out of gas this morning? I might be able to get some good photos at 8:00AM when the commuters are lining up for gas.

I wonder if the busses will be busier today?

It's around $3.10 for us right now.

But to answer your question with a question, I wonder how many people
realize what it costs to operate a bus or other public transportation
compared to the fares?

Here, the Valley Transportation Authority costs about $137/hour for bus
service. It's even higher for the light rail--nearer $300 I think.
Regardless, the San Jose area has one of the lowest ridership figures of
the region (yet they insist on running articulated busses on lines that
cannot support their usage and continue with a light rail system that is
neither efficient or well used).

Sorry to be so down on public transportation but even with high fuel costs,
people are not using it and it has failed to live up to the promises of the
various proponents.

Atlanta suburb here; I filled my tank for about $2.70/g on Tuesday - I'd hit the "premium" button by accident and was cursing myself. Now I consider myself lucky.

Last night my wife and her co-worker were both almost out of gas and hadn't been listening to the radio or anything, got a shock when a customer told 'em to get their gas quickly. They started calling stations to find prices and had a hard time finding one that said they had any supply at all. One station said "$2.95 but hurry because the price is going up $.50 in about 10 seconds." I think they ended up finding some for about $3.20

Since I own Exxon Mobile stock I have to admit to mixed feeling here. We are running around $2.99 for a galleon of regular but that goes up by the hour.

Linda needed gas and paid $2.98 and was horrified. On the way to her father's place she saw a station selling gas for $2.79 so she stopped there on the way back, about an hour later, to complete filling up (she had only gotten 3 galleons earlier when she saw the price). By the time she got back to the gas station they had raised their price from $2.79 to $2.98. Linda had to wait while they reset the pumps to the new price. She was not a happy camper when she got home.

Local Gas Station
I did see some gasoline for "only" $3.05. We had gassed up 40 miles to the south for $2.95. Usually our town is from 10 to 15 cents more (go figure why, I've given up on guessing why our town is so expensive, and even just over the hill is more expensive than 40 miles south).

I understand the global economy and the local benefits to my home province when the price of gas is high. I understand that there is a knee jerk reaction going on right now with gasoline pricing. The gas available to purchase right now was refined long ago(i.e the oil it was refined from was purchased long ago at a much lower ppb).

But I still cannot fathom what we are paying for gas right now, here in Edmonton where the majority of Canada's gas is refined from Alberta oil

$1.14 per litre cdn. So lets convert that:
3.5 litres per gallon gives you (1.14 * 3.5) cdn$3.99 (approx) for a US gallon. Then lets put that into US dollars (3.99 *1.18) $4.70 USD/gallon!!!!!!!
