We are not going to be implementing a server side fix for this, because we have our cache settings specially tuned. (We WANT you to cache the image for a while, especially if it is unchanged. Otherwise your bandwidth usage goes up and smugmug is accused of robbing you blind) ;)

I implemented all of the CSS tweaks I could to try and fix this, so I am sorry if it is still broken :( However, I liked what Dean Edwards said in the top of the article you linked: "And this is a browser problem not a server problem."

Thanks, JT. I agree with your assessment completely. The problem is still there, but I believe the user has to change the settings from the default in order to experience the flicker.

Hey, while we're talking about Microsoft Browsers, I wonder what you are planning to do now that Microsoft has dropped support for its Mac browser?

    Hi Winn,

We announced that we no longer support IE5 a while back, so this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone I hope, really?

    SmugBlogs:

We get a couple emails very infrequently on this matter, but folks on Mac are fairly used to Firefox or Safari so it's less and less an issue these days.

While we're talking about Dean Edwards...:D

Any chance Dean Edwards' IE7 scripts could be incorporated into smugmug? Or, on the other hand, any chance that the current smugmug scripts could be made so they don't interfere with the Dean Edwards IE7 scripts? Boy would that make my job easier (and smugmug's customization options a whole lot more powerful too).
Y'all don't want to hear me, you just want to dance.

I can't grasp the notion of time.

When I hear the earth will melt into the sun,
    in two billion years,
    all I can think is:
"Will that be on a Monday?"
