How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

thats because all the rich northerners go buy up all the realestate down there... and leave us poor northerners stuck here in the cold and snow!!!!

great shots, your giving me the itch to get down there and visit..where is this place, is it close to the Everglades? or in the other direction?

The Viera Wetlands are right off of exit 191 of US 95. Its a little north of Melbourne in the Space Coast area.

Outstandingl shots Harry.. I'm jealous of all the green down there (and paved roads)..rolleyes1.gif Your hawk shot (with human and tripod).. NOT A CHANCE up this-a-way, if you're lucky maybe a couple hundred yards at the closest.

Around here you have to park and hike for about a mile to even get close to the good spots.. then lots of camo and hours of waiting and you "might" get a good shot. None of that shorts, T's and Tan stuff..rolleyes1.gif I carry about 50 pounds of gear every time I go out to shoot (and I'm no spring chicken).

Those guys sure are putting a dent in the frog population huh..:ivar

Thanks for sharing your bit of paradise with us.clap.gif it sure is beautiful.

Thanks Chris. The Viera Wetlands are just about as good a shooting locale as one could want. I've never seen a place (excluding the rookery in St. Augustine) that affords you the close-up opportunities like Viera. A couple of years ago I met a dude from Ireland who was shooting one of our eagles. He was had shot all over the world and he had never been that close to an eagle before.

Its perfect for me. I'll get down there around sunrise shoot for 2-3 hours (usually take 400-500 shots) and then get home around 10 AM and have breakfast with the missus. :ivar If I'm feeling perky I'll drive back there and shoot in the late afternoon light for few hours, head on home and pick up supper on my way back.

Tomorrow won't work, the wetlands are closed for the next few days so they can do some road work after our recent rains. You sure have bad timing. :poke

A condo at Cocoa Beach would be a nice break for a frozen northerner. :cavig
