I was first on the preorder list at Tallyn's and as expected, mine shipped from Tallyn's today, and will be in my hands on Friday (tomorrow in US is a Holiday, Thanksgiving day, no deliveries).

If you ordered a Kit, preorder, from Tallyn's, they'll have 'em Monday they said and will be shipping out to those on the list thumb.gif

Contact them if you have questions!
I think we will contact YOU if we have questions (about the 5DII) mwink.gif

Being that I'm #18 person #22nd body in the list, I (as expected) did not make the first shipment, but I just called them and added an extra LPE6 battery to my order... can't wait for them to get their next shipment, hopefully that will include me! They're super great to talk to though.

PS for all you Adobe users, make sure to update to Camera Raw 5.2 (and evidently Lightroom 2.2 is on the horizon if you read the smaller notes on that page)

I ordered a battery grip and extra battery today. I am the #22 person and body #26. When I ordered the grip and battery today, although I didn't ask, they said they had no idea when my camera would be in. Just as long as I have it before JAN.4 when we fly out to see the Mayan ruins in Mexico.

I got a call from my local dealer (in Germany), he said they just
recieved their first batch of 5D Mark II packages and that I can
pick it up tomorrow. Yeeehaaawww! wings.gif

#11 at Tallyn's feels like #111. The at least one-day delay for the holiday makes it seem even longer.

I've heard from another reputable german dealer that they recieved only two cameras and that canon had delayed shipment to them. There seems to be light and shadow ...

I'm very happy for those that got the camera already. I'm anxious to hear your experiences with the 5DMII.

I really would like to know how many Tallyn's got in their first shipment.

My first impression is very favorable. The images that this camera
produces are huge (25-30MB). Now my 4GB cards are worth no more than
130 pictures. The menu and the controls are very fast and responsive. Browsing
through 21MP RAW files in camera is super fast. The Viewfinder is also very
nice, bright and huge. There are two tiny things which I don't like: 1st the
on-off switch feels cheap and 2nd the elumination of the settings display
on top of the camera is kind of dark and turns of too fast for my taste.
Both of these things were better in the 10D.

I just went to the city and shot a few frames which I am just converting with
Camera RAW 5.2 to dng. Lightroom does not support the RAW files from the
5D II just yet, but it happily imports the converted dng files. Others might
find this information useful for their workflow and photo software.

Looking at the images fit to 1920x1200 on my 24" screen I cannot detect noise
in images shot at iso 3200. Of course when viewing at 100% noise is visible.

I was never comfortable with shooting at ISO 1600 and 3200 with my old
camera. That has changed now and so far I am very very happy with this
    camera.

I really would like to know how many Tallyn's got in their first shipment.

I asked when they posted about getting their first shipment on their blog and they said they received in the single digits for the first shipment.

They need to get more so we can have ours next, lol.

thanks to everyone who posted some sample pictures!

I believe 5D2 support is anticipated in Lightroom 2.2 from what I read on the Adobe website when downloading the latest Adobe RAW software update. They should have that in December according to what I read there.

What about us that have Photoshop Elements 6? Will all of Photoshop be supported soon, or at all? I'm getting a 5DII after the first of the year and that would be a bummer if I couldn't download RAW images. ne_nau.gif

+1 Just emailed Tallyns to see if I could get on the stragling late sign up list... ;-)
Thanks for the link with all the Adobe plug-in info Andy, looks like a CS4 upgrade from 3 purchase is in order.
