Re: Smugmug performance question
9 of 10 staying is about right. Our free trial retention is around 92% when everything is working great and it dips a little if we have a glitch. Annual renewal runs around 95%. Most of the ones who don't renew never maintained their albums, got busy, got divorced, died, etc. PBase is in North Carolina, so they're faster… -
Re: how to send someone hundreds of RAW images
There's really only one person who can give an authoritative answer on this -- is it hard to contact them? Anyway, tell us the aggregate size of the images and we can tell you exactly how many CDs or DVDs it will take to hold that much data. Me? I'd probably weed through them rejecting the non-keepers. I'd spend no more… -
Re: Extremely unhappy customers... AND
Well, you don't have links on any more so I have to let you know what I think based on the filenumbers. These I think are winners, very well done and I would think they would be happy with these, assuming they knew what they were buying when they paid the sitting fee: 2, 3, 11, 37, 74, 83, 92. But, like was mentioned… -
Re: Publish to Facebook - Beta 2. Now with Pages!
I would also like to mention that, although the feature seems to be working okay now (aside from the aforementioned photo/newsfeed spamming issue), I will periodically get an album that won't upload entirely. For example, I've been trying to upload an album that has 92 photos in it, but only 70 of them uploaded… -
Re: Photoshop CC et al.
That isn't unexpected. Though some advanced features will not work in a pirated copy due to their reliance on cloud access. As time goes on that gap will widen. What I find interesting is that Adobe added 200,000 new CC subscribers last quarter. The CEO indicated they are seeing that trend up through the rest of the year.… -
QE2 World Cruise Los Angeles to New York
Hi all, The wife and I took a 13 day trip on Cunard's Queen Elizabeth 2 from Los Angeles to New York. I took over 1300 images and it has taken me a bit over one week to get everything processed. This is the reason I haven't been around. So lets take a few minutes and do a photo slideshow. The bow of the QE2 in Los Angeles… -
Portrait, Simmons, 2
I did some things here, I am hoping it will be noticed which is why I took a whole new thread. Rutt, the eyes are sharp, as sharp as his eyes are at 92. He is blind in one of them: his right one. I did not sharpen much in the first place. It was a last minute find, one I had used flash on and was not soft at all. Here I… -

http://davidmphoto.smugmug.com/photos/swfpopup.mg?AlbumID=9466034&AlbumKey=UAGbK I have been having interrupted uploads and generally slow slideshow views of my site. http://www.davidmphoto.smugmug.com I have a fast cable modem connnection here in the metro DC area (east coast). Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C)… -
Re: CFL bulbs
What I found when I used the inexpensive CFLs of CRI 92, which I thought might be good enough, is that some color tones would "punch up" while others would be subdued. It was not successful enough for accurate color rendition of anything important that I would shoot. The CFL products with a CRI of 98 were better, but… -
Re: Olympus e400 Vs. Canon 400D Vs. Nikon 40D
The viewfinder crop factor is nothing new and is common to just about all prism finders. Canon's site shows the xxxD and xxD cameras at 95% coverage, the xD at 100%. In the film end the Rebels are worse at 90%. Same thing in Nikon's lineup: pro bodies are 100% and prosumer are 95%. Heck, even my Mamiya 645Pro prism finder…
