Re: Monthly Assignment #2: Natural Light Portrait
Spasibo (Thank you) for your work, invective (sorry for such a form of address, cause I don’t know your name). If you don’t mind, I’d like to ask you to 1) Put numbers for your photos in a post. 2) Post not more then 2-3 portraits at once (But I don’t want to limit the number of your background photos at all :-)… -

Re: Off/on Camera flash for weddings
f2.8 or faster works. When I was swinging the 70-200f2.8L IS i had problems focusing in dark rooms. My 24-70 f2.8L has no problems however unless it is really dark, or with african americans wearing dark clothing. Part of that may be due to lens design and part of it may be due to the focal length and my typical distance… -

I will only ship to confirmed PP addresses. For the 1Ds3 and 600/4 IS I'll only accept a wire transfer from a reputable US bank, - aren't many of those left. :)… -
Re: Print Set Up Help!
Hi Steven, Do you have a Smugmug site? If not, you really should get one. It's so inexpensive, there is no reason not to. I upload my pictures to my Smugmug site in their full size if I expect to order prints. That way I know they have a high enough resolution to print well. I check the size in Photoshop first, then order… -
Re: *Challenge 26 in ginger's house
Andy, I am trying to think of how to answer you. I have done it three different times. Each time I have tried different things. I couldn't get any lens to focus close. Until I used the automatic settings. So I did it both ways. Last night I spent about three hours with a lamp, a tripod, not a tripod, I could not get the… -
Re: Baptism In South Carolina: The Family
Yes, but for such a beautiful family, the baby did not turn out well (as a photo). The reason for that may be that I use my wide angle lens, 17-40L, for baptisms right now. I just went to take one baptism photo. People don't want to buy. If they want anything, they want me to just e-mail them a free photo. I have refused… -
Re: What is a good camera to buy these days?
Most common causes for a longer flash recycle time: * Low ISO: Higher ISO uses less flash and gives longer range. * Subject distance: The greater the distance, the harder the flash has to work. * Small subject with dark background: The auto-exposure system may be trying to illuminate the background if it doesn't detect… -
Re: Congrates to all our winners! DSS Challenge #105 High Key
no 'highlight' can apply to any of the color channels. For most 'normal' scenes and subjects, the individual red green and blue channels have similar exposure levels, as a result, highlights usually look whitish, as does direct light. If an image is sufficiently overexposed, all the radiance channels will be clipped, and…
