Re: Extension Tube Discussion
Ziggy, I defer to your discussion of flange to sensor distances. I do confess to using a 12mm or even a 25mm extension tube with a Tamron 200-500mm lens or a Canon 100-400 V2 lens sometimes. These are fairly small, lightweight zooms, used at their longest focal length, to let me get closer to butterflies while remaining at… -
Re: Time for a new compact camera - suggestions?
I tested a panasonic LX2 in the camera shop and it was very cool. Downsides are high iso performance (like every current compact I've tried) and no optical view finder. My dad has the waterproof olympus and its ok for bright, out door shots, but a combo of no af illuminator light (I think the newer models have them though… -
Re: First attempts at still life photography
Mike. Your second set is a vast improvement over the first. Very nice. Number three, processed, is very nice, even without any fill. Number four is also good, except for all that dead space above the fruit. Also, move everything to one side or the other: That wide brown line going up the curtains takes a lot away from some… -
Re: What's the difference between close up filters and macro?
I have bought a set of such lens' and yes, I think they are a waste of money. If you really are looking at purchasing a screw on lens rather than going for a proper Macro lens, then I would consider the Sigma Achromatic Macro Lens. This lens is not a single magnifying lens but a proper Macro lens. The problem with a single… -
Re: D90 to D7000 or higher?
Check out the full review & videos of the D7000 at cameralabs.com then you decide the importance of video. The D7000 and 60D are both fine cameras. "Moving onto the movie mode, Nikon's completely revamped what was available on the D90, which lest we forget was the model which kick-started video on DSLRs two years earlier.… -
Re: First paid event, Please Help!!!
Here is my take on this event.....max 4 hours = 1/2 day ...... $750 min ...shoot raw and jpg ....if you are lucky you may not have to process, if you need to process then the raws are there for your darkroom fun...... Do not guarantee any number of photos, but they get a disk of proof images (watermarked ) for facebook or… -
Re: different text color within a text page
Changing the color and size of text ingallery Description Boxes I was able to carry over by previous CSS code for changing the size and color of text. But this only worked in the Gallery Description boxes. In the theme css box I added:/*Fonts Formatting for Gallery Descriptions*/ .myTitle { font-family: Arial, verdana;… -
Re: Aggressive Cropping?
Thanks for the kind words and detailed reply, Glort. I appreciate it. Hope you saw the part where I said "this is my home town and my kids are in the league. I have to walk a fine line between 'doing something nice for' and 'making money off of' my community." I cannot be seen as profiteering. Also, I don't need the money,… -
Re: How much to charge for a sitting
I did a lot of extensive research of many brick & mortar photo establishments and others that I found online in my direct area. I found that out of a dozen businesses, the sitting fees averaged just over $100 (like $112 averaged over 12 businesses). Print Pricing was a little all over the map between all those business...… -
Re: Err 99 problem with my Tokina!
I have an older Sigma 70-210mm, f2.8, that was rated for film only Canon EOS cameras. I knew that when I bought the lens, but I figured I would try it on my XT anyway. It also gives an Error 99 on any aperture other than f2.8. It may be that you have a lens which is incompatible with digital EOS cameras. You may be able to…
