Re: Quantaray Flash for Nikon
The local Ritz has been going out of business as well. (this is the last week they'll be open) Anyway, a while ago, I picked up an xlf-50 and a pz40x-II, both i-ttl compatible. Both work fine with my D40. The little xlf-50 is pretty small, reasonably fast recycle, and does a good job filling small rooms and close ups. I… -
Re: France 1964
The next day we visited Avignon (the Pope's palace) This is the biggest Gothic palace in all of Europe. It was built in the 14th century and was completed in only 20 years by popes Benedict XII and Clement VI when Avignon was the seat of the papacy. At the time we visited, Avignon was not very well known and was off the… -
Re: Will be in St. Louis March 6th, photo locations?
Saint Louis Photo Opportunities I guess you can say that there a lot of places to photograph in Saint Louis (STL) depending on your photographic interests. In the central west end, there is the Basilica Cathedral of Saint Louis, impressive architecture, contains the world's largest collection of moasic art, 83,000 sq. ft.… -
Re: Time for a new compact camera - suggestions?
I tested a panasonic LX2 in the camera shop and it was very cool. Downsides are high iso performance (like every current compact I've tried) and no optical view finder. My dad has the waterproof olympus and its ok for bright, out door shots, but a combo of no af illuminator light (I think the newer models have them though… -
Re: Questions of what to get
As Ziggy said...Your a200 has a hotshoe..it is just a proprietary one..meaning that it is special and a lot of off brand flashes need an adapter, can be purchased off ebay for very little...but better than that look into the Sigma line of flashes for Sony then you have direct connectivity and all functions should… -
Re: Time To Move Up
Harry has it right.... But there are a couple of thoughts I will throw out for you so you dont completely lose hope. 1) It depends on what you shoot and when... Sports, wildlife you need the fastest (read expensive) glass you can afford, the fastest camera and the longest lenses. All big bucks. If you cant afford that… -

Re: Cs4 + lr
You can get Color Efex to work in Lightroom! Nik's plugsins (as well as many other plugins) offer both Photoshop and Lightroom versions. You just have to make sure you are using the right installer from Nik, and during installation that you would like to use it with both Photoshop and Lightroom. I'm also a Photoshop CS4… -
Re: Laptop LCD Quality - are any comparable to pro/semi-pro monitors?
I'm not aware of any Sony laptops or any current production consumer grade (vs custom industrial or military) laptop/notebook other than the HP 8740w having an IPS panel. If you have an URL pointing me to specs confirming an IPS panel I'd appreciate you posting it here. If you haven't seen my posts here before, I try to… -
Re: Tamrac Adventure 75 questions
In my experience... There isn't currently, nor will there ever be a single solution bag. Some *may* come close, but won't be the end-all be-all solution we seek. Why? Well, how many different photographic situations will you find yourself in is the question that must be asked... For me, let's see there's: Wedding\event…
