Re: Oh lord a Publisher contacted me again for more City Scapes
Thank You......I had already checked my fav on line source and SW ......then decided I might be better off driving for more photo ops......but flying in also gave me the ability to shoot as we came in to airport....sometimes that gives a real unique view. Looks like I'll drive...rather than fly and rent a car.....being… -
Re: RAW converters
Well, I'm a Nikon user so I have no idea about the Canon software. Here is what I've been using..... 1. Raw Shooter Essentials. This is free, fast and does a nice job. Get it from here. I used the latest version (1.3) on all my shots from this past weekend and I like the results. There will soon be a paid premium version… -
Re: How much to charge for bball shoot?
The 15 or 30 minutes drive time to the event is trivial, especially in the mid-west and western states (I used to live in MT :D, so I have some experience with this - drive 130 miles to go mall shopping). So, I think I would not include that in the computation here though for longer drives it might be appropriate… -
Re: Valley Of The Gods
You are correct about Mackenna's Gold. It was the only movie ever shot in Canyon De Chelly (pronounced shea). I met a local Indian at one of the viewpoints that hand makes Indian flutes. Really amazing work and he plays some amazing music on those flutes. I had to buy one of his cd's. Anyways, he told me the story about… -

Re: to blur or not to blur
Hey Mitchell! For me and my camera (Sony 717), it's 1/4 to 1/2 second - usually. This all depends on the lighting. My ideal lighting (if you don't have to include the sky in the image) is light to medium overcast. It's a nice even lighting and helps reduce blown highlights in the water. I always shoot waterfalls with a… -
Re: Decisive Moments
Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Macro Super II Wow, thank you everybody for all the responses. I really appreciate it. I was planning to take pictures of my wife flying a kite that day, but as the sun went down, I thought the kids playing on the hill were more interesting. The second picture was taken a bit earlier than the… -
Re: NEW/UPDATED: Gallery Header / Cover Image
OK, this may sound like the weirdest question ever...but if one is using a CSS like the following.sm-gallery-tiles-container{display:none;} Yes, I do use that...I customized my portfolio galleries a little more than "usual"... (see here for an example: Macro - Selection Does this somehow interfere with the new settings?… -
Re: HS Basketball W/flash
My biggest issue with shooting lately is flash power.. I've been using Pixel power packs. Noticed the other day a clip came off one of the battery trays which explains why one side (it's 2 circuits, 4 batteries each) was dead and the other fully charged after a game. Thankfully I had extra trays so problem fixed. But even…
