First photoshoots with the 5d! (11 "small" photos)
Last weekend, I had 4 photoshoots in Denver! I'm SO thrilled with how they went. I had a blast and I'm still sort of shocked that I was able to get them all (mostly) color corrected and cropped (about 160 total final shots whittled down from over 500) in less than a week! (Thank you, Lightroom!) These are my favorites. I… -
Re: Trip Report - Patriots-Bills
OK, so now I can explain why all the photos were "soft" and "noisy", and all those other terrible words. #1. I took the photos. #2. I was using my Canon S1-IS, with the venerable 5.8-58mm f2.8-f3.1 lens aboard. Now I like my camera, but it has deficiences. Namely: .....2A: It has trouble focusing in low light. .....2B:… -
Re: calibrated, received prints, now what?
I'm baaaack! :D I recalibrated tonight (i1 display2) and pushed my lumens down to 92. I think that will be a better brightness match for prints (I hope). But, everything seems to have a twinge of magenta, once again. Very frustrating. No one has told me my pics are too magenta when viewing them online, but the current… -
Re: SmugMug Bug Reporting Thread
Safari "Back" button bug when navigating site. I have noticed a bug in using the Safari 'Back' button for some time but haven't been able to find anything in the forums on it. (Using Safari 3.2.1 on OS X 10.5.6). Basically, the back button on Safari at times doesn't seem to work and you have to press it TWICE to actually… -
Re: Could use input from you folks
Thanks guys. This is hugely helpful and I appreciate the time you guys have taken to give me input. Yes. I really like this "style" better than using the graphics and such as I did at the start. Just way more clean and professional looking. So glad you guys hated those first drafts I posted. :D I did struggle a little with… -
Re: Cypress Hills, S Alberta Prairie
Well, it was a great 4 days and I can't wait to go back. I will post a 'journey' once I am able to get some photos edited. For the record, I will post links to the stops we made and what we saw along the way now. We headed out of Edmonton bright and early Thursday morning, and chose to travel Highway 2A rather than the… -
Re: Canon EOS 550D
After the subject, setting and composition of a scene, proper light/lighting is essential. I suggest that you need both a competent external flash, with an "autofocus assist light", and then a standard zoom lens in the 17-50mm-ish range, but with a constant aperture of f2.8. 1) For the flash I suggest at least a Yongnuo… -
Re: Good Starter Cameras?
Discussion on that very 2.8 vs 4.0 subject going on at the moment in another thread. There is a huge amount of difference between 2.8 and f4 glass (hence the big price and weight differences, too!) Also, since you have NO lenses, you're going to need more than one tele-zoom. Even if that's where you put the bulk of your $,… -
Re: Change in SmugMug URLs for better privacy
1) As a non-pro member, I don't have income riding on this issue, but I can imagine how I would feel if a 12-year old with Firefox download manager sucked all my photos out of a private gallery without having been given a single bit of information from me. 2) I agree with others that terminology is the enemy here. From my… -
