Re: Carrying more equipment without looking like a tool
There is definitely a fine balance between finding ways to carry more gear, and simply shedding the weight altogether. If I had to shoot a wedding with just two spyder holster'd cameras and nothing else on my person, (aside from a coupe batteries in one pocket and all my memory cards in the other) ...here is what I'd do: *… -
Re: "we've hidden your galleries"
Unlisted would work for your purposes. You don't have to move anything. You would have to mark all galleries that you don't want the public to be able to browse to as unlisted (change one option in the customize gallery screen for each unlisted gallery). Unlisted galleries can still be accessed by anyone that you give a… -
Re: Olympus E500....
As for the cameras: I think the Canon 350XT has a slight advantage when it comes to resolution, and for sure when it comes to high ISO images. For every day usage the E500 to my eyes renders more pleasing images, since I really like the out of camera images it produces. That is highly subjective, and you should really make… -

Re: Does Smugmug consider this security issue a bug?
Just my .00005 cents worth here as i was reading this and I figure that between 90 & 97% of the people using SmugMug know a lot more about building and configuring a website than I do...hence one reason I have not done any actual site customizing yet..... Okay I want to password protect a gallery....as I am reading down… -
Re: noob to manual settings
Hey Carl! I'm happy to hear the lens got there safe and sound. I was so worried shipping it, it got those air bubbles and foam padding (from a saddle, compliments of our local tack store). :) When I first started using my dSLR for horse shows I was a bit nervous and I used the "sports" setting. It's okay and good… -
To be you or to be me? That is the real question.
First off I want to add this first and foremost this is a topic that for some reason I can't get off my mind. By posting it I'm either gonna shot myself in the foot or make some sense And it is short of digital theropy for me so -heh - here goes. First a little about myself and what I do - I'm a seasoned IT pro of 25… -
Pathfinder's Fast Run to Toroweap aboard the White Knight 56K warning
I signed up for Aaron's Toroweap Trip expecting dirt roads, Grand Canyon, and a bit of warm weather. I definitely got all three. My truck was heavily loaded with two spare wheels and tires, camping gear, water, and a couple cameras. My route was the usual one - I-70 from Indiana, across Kansas and Colorado, and Utah. I… -
Re: Raw - Why should I bother?
I've lost track, what tool are you using to edit (raw or not)? As a general practice, what most people do when working with raw, is worry about aspect ratio not size. Maybe that's actually what you mean by size? But if you mean "size" as in either file size or pixel dimensions and you are doing the edits to reduce files to… -
