Re: Studio lighting - where to start
Small Studio Equiptment List........... Are you wanting to use studio strobes or are you looking to go with dedicated Nikon Strobes, ie the SB800.....the SB800 being bttery powered doesnot have a modeling light and studio strobes do have......you can use the SB800 in studio but I really like having the modeling lights so I… -
Re: >>> DSS Challenge #4 (Photo Filters): Feedback Thread
Feedback for Page 5 entries #42 Stalking (pemmett) - I like the strong composition and the tilted horizon ... it is a very pleasing image, simple and effective. #43 Inheritance (mmroden) - Nice lighting, effective cmposition. But the most interesting part of this is someone else's photograph and I didn't know how to feel… -
Re: Invisible signature/watermark?
Hi Rutt, IMHO it's close to impossible by current techniques. I would challenge anyone to produce a signature system that can't be broken. 99.9% can be broken trivialy with photoshop. Lets look briefly at a few options: - Least significant bit encoding (steganography) gets massacred by compression algorithms or even the… -
Re: Help! Lulu calendar disaster
LuLu.... Hi, I have been reading quite a bit on here and also on LuLu about issues. I am awaiting my calendar order..should arrive tomorrow. I had difficulty using the system, finally got it down, ordered a preview and rec'd it in a fairly timely manner. I was satisfied enough with the preview product to make changes and… -
Re: Wedding must haves?
Aside from what is listed in your profile (20D, 50D, 70-200 2.8) what do you already have......the 70-200 can be used for over 90% of you wedding.....I shot for years with only a 70-210f2.8.....so I know it can be done......but I would have a 24-70 or 17-70 that can close focus (usually noted as macro even though they are… -
Re: First with the 400 f5.6L
Hi, again! I had the f4 70-200 and bought the f2.8 70-200, now that is a wt shock! It is such a shock that it did make things difficult for a short time. I actually like the extra weight, seem to anchor a lens, or something. I have a monopod that I like. I paid about $120.00 a year or two ago. It is a Bogen, whatever, and… -
Re: SmugMug Feature Requests #3
Request... I request that Smugmug rethink the chart for print sizing. I see so many things wrong here, it's crazy. Why does a 20x30 need 320 more pixels than a 30x40 on the long side? Why does a 8x12 need 48 more pixels than a 12x18 on the long side. If I just look at the long side. If I have a photo that's 1280 pixels on… -
Re: Building a Photo Studio - Advice Please
a 3 car garage should be about 30'x20', I would use it on the long side to give me more space to move back and forth, that way you can use long telephotos for portraits, and it give you more space to maneuver and place your subject or lights further from the background, but then again you can leave the long wall… -
Re: SmugMug Bug Reporting Thread
*I've updated Java.* Doesn't seem to have any effect. And* the strange thing is that the most recent message I get if using FF to try uploading (today-- and it's actually the first time I've gotten a message) is a pop-up from Javascript saying I need an OLD version of Java to get this to work.* I believe it says I need 1.6… -
