Flower Power
Howdy friends! :wave Couldn't help myself from stoppin' by at the flower bed nearby today to snap another few flower pics. I just Lo-hoo-hoo-ove my new cheapo-cheapo-lens. :lust :photo Comments and critics are welcome! 300 mm (Macro mode), 1/200s, f/5.6, ISO 400, Fill Flash 300 mm (Macro mode), 1/400s, f/10, ISO 800 300 mm… -
Re: Is 50mm too long for 300D everyday?
Agreed, hang on to that 12-24. It's a good one (not that I'm biased as a fellow owner...). I'm exploring the wide primes myself. I would like to have an approximately 50mm FOV prime to play with. Canon has several options in 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm, then Sigma has their 30mm. However in looking at reviews they all have… -

Re: Last night's moon
I have found the sunny 16 to be most accurate for me....its just a guide but it saves me a lot of shooting. yep...that tripod is gone & have a new manfrotto 190 pro now with a manfrotto 222 grip ball head & i am in total amazement of how it moves & locks. I cant see me owning anything eles for my type of shooting. I wont… -
Re: The Majesty of it all.
I can only say I wish I was there. In fact I took 190 to Olancha (out of DeathValley) about two weeks ago and got to see the mountains just as the sun went over the top. Your side trip was well worthwhile. I tried a couple of crops as suggested in the other posts in PS (just to see how it would look)and there really are… -
Re: Looking for a LARGE bag
Scott i have the crumpler (brians hot-tub now called the kalahari) & it would just about take all that. I have the same 2 bodies & 400 f/5.6 & 2 smaller lenses as well as 100mm canon macro & 135mm f/2 (both largish primes) & a 430 EX. I also carry a lot of other stuff in there like spare eye glasses...wallet...portable… -

Re: 1ds Mark I -vs- 50D Image size and quality
I would start the comparison looking at DXoMark: http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/eng/Image-Quality-Database/Compare-cameras/(appareil1)/190|0/(appareil2)/267|0/(onglet)/0/(brand)/Canon/(brand2)/Canon For 8" x 10" images I don't think you will see a dramatic difference. The one area where the 50D would excel, compared to… -
Re: Dgrin Mini-Challenge #268 - Airplane views
Interesting challenge - I have tons of pictures of airplanes, but not as many from airplanes... 1 - Uptown Charlotte, NC as seen from a JetBlue E-190 heading to New York: 2 - West German Luftwaffe Tornado fighter/bomber as seen out the back of our KC-135, April 1987, refueling over the "buffer zone", the 10 mile area along… -
Re: Flash Recommendations for a 20D
Very briefly * Feature | Canon 580EX | Sigma EF-500 DG Super * Guide number | 190 @ ISO100 (105mm)| 165 @ ISO100 (105mm) * Zoom range | 24-105 | 28-105 * Power source | External, battery pack, 4xAA | 4xAA (data from shopping.com) There are most likely some other differences, but I'm too lazy to parse all the specs... As…
