Re: Need some tech guidance and pro mentoring
Resolution - Size - Distance I'm not sure if I really understand your question, but here's a stab at it: There are three factors to consider here: resolution, size, and viewing distance. The resolution of your final edited images will determine the maximum DPI they can be printed at (the same image will have a much higher… -
Re: Sports Shooters Advice - Nikon D300 vs. D700
I shoot both a D300 and D700. I started shooting indoor sports with a D200 and 50mm f1.4. The iso 1600 and f1.8 setting were more than adequate for newsprint and I even sold some images to parents. As a gear nut, I once had a pro tell me to stop spending money on gear and get out and shoot, and shoot, and shoot. There… -
Re: Wedding photography tips?
This is the way weddings were shot back in the 40's and 50's according to what I read at the library back in the mid 70's when I first started out shooting or actually schooling myself in techniques and designing a shooting list. ********* HAVE FUN....IF YOU DO NOT HAVE FUN THE PHOTOS WILL NOT BE AS GOOD AS THEY COULD HAVE… -
Re: Camera bags?
Diversity: Bags And Users As far as what everyone uses....well.....I would bet there are some of us using nearly every brand out there and we probably all love what we use....Dogdots is correct in saying find what fits then buy bigger....for several reasons.....you have a body and 2 lenses.....at some point in the near… -
Re: Memory card "safety" and rotation...
thanks for the reply :) I wonder if anyone else even has a policy, or if they will make one after they lose a ton of pics one day... Ours is probably WAY overboard, but we've been saved twice so it's worth it: Note we usually shoot with 2 cameras. We also shoot only with smaller cards (4gb), mainly because we never fill… -
Re: I just picked up my new Nikon D7100
After flipping and flopping files. I finally have a sample. Unfortunately these were 12bit RAW files converted to JPG in View NX then imported to Lightroom for editing. So some detail lost in translation of course. Hopefully Adobe gets on it and gets the 7100 added to LR. Even with all the converting this shows a little of… -
Re: Advice on shooting an Airshow
Sounds like a great opportunity. What lens to purchase depends a great deal on your budget, of course. I own a 100-400 and rarely use it. I tend to prefer my Tamron 200-500 for airplanes, since IS really doesn't help that much when panning rapidly for planes in flight. Using a Wimberly head on a tripod is best, but rarely… -
Re: Quick Selection Tool.
That is a helpful link, Ziggy, concerning the use of the Selection tool. One tip about the Selection tool I have not seen anywhere is that is can be painted with to select large areas, or when it is smaller, rather than painting, it can be clicked on while it is stationary to be far more selective in what it gathers, like… -
Re: Travel camera
Hehehe - Jack, I never said I despised the Fuji, just that it's outside my budget! Also, I'd prefer a zoom; with one camera and a mix of sightseeing, country walks, social events, and just maybe some quickie informal headshots, I'm thinking a fixed prime may feel rather limiting. As for the s95 - some of my best-ever shots… -
Re: Editing Text on a Page
Each of your text lines can be customized individually using the <p> <h1> <h2> & <h3> tags. Further you can single out one tag if your have multiples like h2, you have two of them, by using h2:nth-child(1) or h2:nth-child(2) Here's what the html looks like. 1st red is the unique page class name. 2nd red is the unique…
