Lovely San Francisco
Just returned from a recent trip to San Francisco, and perhaps the most pleasant weather I've ever seen down there. Clear skies didn't exactly create the drama I was hoping for at times, but I just changed what I shot a little bit. Hope you enjoy. What an incredibly beautiful city/area. Room with a view, minus the room.… -
HTTP PUT uploads don't seem to work
I'm trying to get HTTP PUT to work using python httplib. I made sure all of the headers were set and properly spelled (including case). I simply get a "Broken pipe" error message from the server. Are there any examples of using httplib in python to upload via PUT? is HTTP PUT still a valid upload method? <pre> 173 data =… -
FS: Canon S2 IS - Mint Condition
Hi there.. I have a Canon S2 IS digital camera that I've used as a back-up in my bag when I travel. I have mainly used the camera for its excellent video recording but of course have taken some very nice photos with it. Selling because I just purchased a S5. The 12x zoom offers a very nice 36-432mm range and the IS helps… -
DEAL: Ritek 8gb 150X CF Card $199
I bought this card for my 30D last week from newegg.com. I thought my old Kingston 4gb 45x and Lexar 2gb 80x cards were fast, but this thing is the shiznit! I've tested this on my card readers and 30D, and I immediately noticed the speed difference with this card! Before, I could not tell the difference between the… -
Re: Margulis "Professional Photoshop, Fifth Edition"
More Cover Review There is a photo on the left top side of the cover that I know I have seen before. That means it was done by Rutt! But I can't find a credit. So, I "think" it was done by Rutt. In the summer, perhaps. It is used as a teaching tool starting on page 190 of the Fifth Edition Marguilis book. Is it your… -
Re: RRS or Gitzo high-end head, narrowed down to two specific choices
Interesting, we all have favorites. I also go for knobs rather than levers, so called RRS on that. Response I got was perfectly logical, as one would expect from them. Apparently the 40 is of so small a size that a proportioned knob would be too small a diameter to comfortably handle, thus the lever. The 55 is enough… -
Re: B&W help!
Sam, what I do is use the B&W test print (without altering it in any way) and use it with what ever paper your trying out. I've an HP8750 and what I do is use the print and try different print driver/ICC profiles with it. I write each test info on the back of the print then I put the print in a sleave in a book. Then I can… -
Lens suggestions needed for Rebel XT
With Christmas coming and the Canon rebates in full effect, I've been thinking about upgrading my gear. My 717 has served me well and I'll keep it for the IR capabilities. I need some advice on lens selection. Budget dictates an entry-level body. The 70-200/2.8 IS is way out of my league, so I'm looking for more reasonable… -
Light Bright
Hi all! I've got this one up in the gallery, but I'm waffling: Is it really ok to have the power lines? I like them because they add a bit of a story line and enhance the geometrical look to the picture. However, I know that a lot of us as photographers spend quite a bit of effort taking photos without power lines......it… -
