DIY Ringflash
NOTE: This was moved here by a mod, which is why it seems to start in the middle of a thread. Hope it's useful. Thanks! The following is copied and pasted from a post that I made about it on the Strobist forums: Well, after tossing together a ringflash out of a plastic bowl, a tin can, and some aluminum foil, I decided… -
Pancho, Lefty and the Kid's Ride Report - Colorado & N Mexico * 56K warning!!!
Pancho, and Lefty, and the Kid , rolled out of old Terre Haute in the Indiana Territory, at noon, Monday September 4, Labor Day, and headed west on US 36. The trio desperately needed some R&R and time away from the clang and drang of modern life. They knew they needed open roads, a little beer, and a larger space to… -
Re: Glacier Shootout - woulda shoulda -if only-
One of the reasons I drive to the workshops, rather than fly, is the amount of unnecesary stuff I end up bringing for me and Nightingale And I really enjoy the road trip, seeing and shooting interesting stuff along the way. If I were to fly, I would bring two bodies, a 5D with a 24- 105 L, and a 40D, witha 70-200 F4 L IS (… -
Re: DSS #24 Emulation Image - Unofficial Feedback Thread
Well since you asked... :D I have long been a fan of Steichen's Gloria Swanson image - I've always been fascinated by the lace, and the intensity (I love much of his work - and that period of photography in general - but the Swanson picture has always stood out for me). I played around with the lace-in-front of face a few… -

Dirt, dust, wind and sand storms, sliding down rocks, getting wet, bouncing around in the jeep, more sliding down rocks...all just a regular day for me, I'm really tough on my gear. For serious outdoor activities I'm really partial to my Lowepro Trekker AWII series bag(s). Biggest reason is that it has a real fully… -

Re: Maternity Shoot Advice
Should you buy more stuff...depends on what you are planning. Inside...outside. Inside with a backdrop...could be a wall, or sheet, get the light stand, umbrella, and a reflector minimum. Reflector can be a large piece of foam core...around $8, like you suggested. You will get much better images with your flash off… -
Re: The winner of DSS Mega round 16 is.......
Jag, Thanks for your patience and challenging subjects and thanks everyone for your comments. I really learned a lot from all of you. In my case I was trying to understand the rule by asking questions. I am new to layers and Photoshop. Before the Norman Rockwell challenge, I was only using the tool to crop and change the… -
