Control panel login not responding
I can't log in to get to my control panel. secure.smugmug.com just spins and won't respond. A tracert to secure.smugmug.com shows no networking problems, so it must be some issue on Smugmug's end with the server that is supposed to field that SSL login request. Here's a tracert: Tracing route to secure.smugmug.com… -

Re: Want to build a quality Canon lens arsenal . . .
My brother, mereimage, uses the 70-200 as his primary tool also, Ian. I hardly ever used mine on a 20D - too long indoors and too heavy to carry around outdoors. It is great used in a studio setting. On a 1DsMkll, I find it works much better - wider and not as long a reach. It is very sharp and possesses a great bokeh. I… -
Re: New to photography, looking for guidance.
Umm, $800 for new entry level gear is totally do-able. Canon Rebel T3i with 18-55mm IS kit lens, $599: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/753762-REG/Canon_5169B003_EOS_Rebel_T3i_Digital.html Nikon D3200 with 18-55 VR kit lens: $547: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/856049-REG/Nikon_25492_D3200_DSLR_Camera_With.html… -
Re: New guy with a stupid? question..
Pardon me while I dump my brain here in no particular order: Isn't aperture (and therefore DOF) effected? The aperture is measured relative to the focal length of the lens. However f/11 is always the same size (diameter) for a given lens. So if the effective focal length is now 1.6x as long, isn't the effective f-stop now… -
Re: What file size is big enough for photo quality 8 x 12s?
Boy, nothing like questions with set in stone answers :D The rule of thumb seems to be for decent quality results you need to have 150 pixels per inch and for professional (whatever that means) quality results you need 300 pixels per inch. So for an 8 x 12 we get: * Good Quality (150 ppi) 8 x 150 = 1200 12 x 150 = 1800 So… -
Re: white balance for jpeg in cs3
The correction is easy enough, although shooting with better WB or with raw camera data is obviously preferred over doing things in post on a JPEG. I may not go for clinically neutral, just not as yellow as the original. There are many ways to go about this, perhaps a fast one is to use a Photo Filter adjustment layer set… -
Re: Uploading Problems? Help Us Help You.
Firefox 1.5.0.3 Mac Book Pro, OS X 10.4.6 The Adblock extension with the filterset.G updates. The only other uploader that works for intel-based macs is the standard uploader and that didn't work either. When I used the uploader formerly known as the beta uploader I dragged my image into the box, got the upload status bar,… -
Re: SmugMug Service Status May 10th PM
Unable to open many of my galleries Many of my galleries won't open, the browser just times out. I can see my home page, can open a category and can open some galleries. But others just timeout. Here's one example that won't open: http://jfriend.smugmug.com/gallery/353444. Others are very, very slow to open. Others are… -
