Re: Pricelists are here!
Wow - I am really shocked here - this change to a percentage based price list is a MAJOR FAIL on the part of smugmug and I implore you to change this and allow us to manually and easily change the selling price amount. A little background on me for perspective. I have been a full-time photography pro for over 20 years. I… -
A walk around the oysterbeds, Hayling Island
It was a very cold day, +1C with a sharp, biting easterly wind that pushed the temperature down to about -5C. I wrapped up well and took a walk around the Oysterbed site. > http://www.imageinuk.com/Landscapes/Nature-Reserves/The-Oysterbeds/14084085_2bd5Y The E5 is a metal bodied camera and it was so cold that the heat was… -

Re: Lens Recommendation for nikond70s
As usual, Ziggy is right on the money here. You've got a decent pair of lenses to be used for generalized walk around photography. If you are looking for a portrait lens, don't sell yourself short and get another low speed zoom with a broad focal range. If you want to take some serious portraits and don't want to break the… -
Re: Lowlight clubs shots
What was it you said, Scott? 1/90s ISO800 f/2.8 with the Tamron? In a similar lighting situation to what you're facing, BBones; maybe a little lighter. To be honest, I think you'd probably have to push it down to 1/60 or even 1/40 to get the exposure you need in that environment. I've been looking at the Sigma 28mm 1.8;… -
Re: SF - Golden Gate vantage points for this weekend?
Hey Nik, I hadn't seen the V2 before. Nice design! I can only speak for my Ultimate (V1?), and say I've been VERY pleased with it! Since I also use L-brackets, I'd say if I were buying one today I'd go with the V2. Rotating the clamp down for portrait mode isn't an issue (with the L-bracket), but there are times where on… -

Re: The new "Professional "Photographer.
i've wondered the exact opposite. and here are my arguments... 1. We've dumbed down the populace to where hardly anyone even KNOWS what good portraiture is. 2. We've made SLRs cheap enough that every other mom on the planet has one with a 35-80 zoom, and is now a "professional photographer".. 3. the collective…
