Re: I've had it... Not using SM for sales anymore...
I don't get it! What is the problem here. So I set my prices based on how much profit I want to make. So lets say my print is US$100 and I make US$75. Now if I were to offer the same print to someone in AUD I still want to make $US75 so for anyone in Aus the price would be AU$110. So who cares what currency the shopping… -
Re: Meta Tags
Gary - Thanks for the compliment on my site. It's always nice to hear that! I suspect that the "from the eyes of Denise Goldberg" in the google details is coming from the page title in customization - especially since you say that you hadn't specified one there. But I did find the thread that talks about changing the page… -
Re: It's all about SEX!
Cool! But now you're telling me that photos are less fuzzy than the spins of unprepared particles? Check out the Uncertainty Principle in photos yet again! http://alexbraverman.smugmug.com/Photo-Books/Uncertainty-Principle-1/ Though I really have to get back to it and do a better job. Bruce Wood died this year. He was 53.… -
Re: Discarded Things
Thanks Andy. I appreciate your comments. I have another image from 40 years ago, shot in Tri-X - THE REAL STUFF ( not digital:D) and it intrigues me in kind of the same way this shot does, but many viewers are kind of blech about it. You might enjoy it though. It is a great demonstration of what real B&W in real Tri-X… -
Re: White balance question??
Again, since half of all the data is contained in the first stop of linear Raw data, here's where you want to WB (and NOT on a specular white). The 2nd white patch on the Macbeth color checker is about the right. A light gray in a 1.0 gamma space (level 128 in an 8-bit values) is about an Lstar value of 76. The 2nd white… -
Re: Lens Question
I'm not sure I'm following this. 3 inches = 7.6 cm = 76 mm So I thought to myself, "No lenses over 76mm will be less than 3 inches long." But then I went and looked at my 28-75mm Tamron, and it's way longer than 3" at 75mm. I never noticed or thought about this before... but I always though that the focal length of a lens… -

Re: Pentax W90, What say the brain trust?
Yup, I've looked at lots of reviews online. The reviews from the "serious side" of cameras all comment on the noise and image degradation of low-light pics. And they say all the all-weather cameras have that issue regardless of price-point. The outdoor enthusiast reviews don't seem to think the image degrade is all "that… -

#76 - MOM - Nature or Nurture?
So my concept is to photograph myself with 2 sons who are also into photography. I grabbed a few quick shots with one son tonight to start playing with the idea. The composition will be quite different with 3 of us, but it might be helpful to know whether you find any of these shots more appealing than the others? I tend…
