LPS#8 feedback thread
This was an interesting round, I think it broke a record for me in the most number of photos selected on my first pass through the gallery! My first pass yielded 35 photos that caught my attention for one reason or another. That list is as follows: Post# - Photog - Title 2 - PaulThomasMcKee - BIG BANG REDUX 3 - DRabbit -… -
Week in St. Croix
Bob decided he'd rather stay in one place for a week rather than go to a different place every night on a ship. So I booked us for a week in St. Croix where we have only been once for a day (on a cruise). We stayed the night before the flight at the Hampton Inn (where we could also leave the car for $5/night). We went to… -

51 - clovisguy - Droplets My first impression is that a 10:4 pano crop on the top would look awesome. Love the droplet. 52 - RogersDA - Love is a like a rock Hmm, I like the photo, but don't get a feel for the theme. I do get some smooth vibe, but I get pulled toward craggy with the carving. I feel stuck in the middle. 53… -
Re: How To Maximize Your Findability (Search Engine Stuff)
I haven't done this often, but in defense of Smugmug , I'm not sure how they improve GIS only. They can certainly make sites more friendly to search engine though and that should help GIS as well. Don't dismiss text seach since many people don't use GIS and add (or don't) "photos" or "pictures" in their search string.… -
Re: help me spec out a new computer system
Warning - Long Rant....be advised Rutt was really impressed with the Eizo monitors he saw in use at Fotocare (Fotocare.com) - They are about they same price as the 23 inch Apple and I thought long about them. In the end I decided to stay with a single vendor, Apple, to just simplify everything and to avoid any conflict… -
>>> LPS#4 Feedback Thread
LPS#4 was a very enjoyable round to judge. A lot of creativity was evident. My compliments to all who entered. And now we open it up for some feedback that may help some out there. Here are my thoughts as I looked through them. Post# - Photog - Title 3 - denika - Porcelain Romp The framing and color seem at odds with what… -
A Dream Lived: Arrigetch Peaks, Brooks Range, Alaska! Part 1
Around 4 years ago John Borland and I decided to go on a big climb into the northern areas of Alaska above the Arctic Circle. We decided on a beautiful spire called Shot Tower as our main objective. This tower included 16 pitches of climbing with one of those pitches being A2. A2 means that it is ascended by aid climbing,… -
>>> LPS#10 Feedback thread
This is getting harder, I selected 34 photos the first time through. And the last pass was hardest of all. Really nice work in getting the idea of Surf or Turf across to the viewer. One word of warning though, many are slipping back to using the theme words in the title: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=67646 It is… -
Re: >>> LPS#5 Feedback Thread
post# - Photog - Title 3 - Xia_Ke - Water Droplets After April's Last Shower It is a pleasant photo, but the theme development is pretty subtle. You mention water drops in the title and via selective focus, yet rain drops are transparent, not really translucent in nature. 4 - tlee - Butterfly Man A bold entry and eye… -
Re: Lightbox slow - anyone else or just me?
First, this morning (1/29) as I write this, performance is decent. Not good, not normal, but 2-4 seconds for a large image to come up, and no failures. I will try to do it again if it gets worse.
